San Andreas?

Hey I like Battlefield2 and all, but I would LOVE to play SA(in BF2) meaning, like a war game in San Andreas:) . But I don't know how to edit all the stuff, one map i am really looking forward to (if it is ever created) is a Las Venturas Map with Interiours and such, or an Area 69. Please forgive me if this is the wrong spot.

i am currently making liberty city for BF2....

its about 50% done and i will post up some screenshots if you like....

SA would be almost impossible to make- mile tooooo big, and would take years to make. The statics would be repeated sooo many times you would get bored, and it would take ages to travel round the map.


It would be more like a world than a map, which seems quite a cool idea, as you could easily have 500+ people on SA....

Wow that sounds akin to the world of MMOs although with an FPS flair. Very intersesting nonetheless.

There was a Dice City mod under construction, not sure what happened to it though, wouldn't we love San Andreas in a little bit of everything. If your willing to make it, nothing impossible.

meh, i think its pretty lame IMO i hate Grand Theft Auto but it would be a kool change to battlefield mods

Right.... here are some screenshots for the map you are all so dying to see.

My idea behind making the LCS series, is to make all the islands as separate maps, otherwise the map would be huge.

All these screenshots are from the Portland Island map, but it is a MIP (map in progress), and as such has no lightmaps (makes everything not look so shiny), sky (you can see right across the map atm), environmental maps (makes the water reflect), no proper control points, no combat area etc etc.

If people are intrested in the map, then i will keep posting screenshots as the map progresses, and as such you should hopefully see it been developed.

The screenshots are just the basic layout of the map, i intend to put all the basic roads, buildings etc into the map (The stage that i am curently at), then go back and add things such as lamposts, general clutter around the map etc etc.

First of all, this is the minimap of what the map looked like at 19:57 today

Hopefully you can see where i have literally stopped working.



Now you can see the minimap, i shall expalin all the 'random' lines you can see..... Since i am actually copying a map, and not inventing one myself, i wanted the map to be as realistic and as exact as possible. 2 things that i thought would really help me in getting the map as exact as possible is the layout of the map, and the roads. The random lines are the roads, and the poor edges of the maps are the effect of me crudly designing the heightmaps of the map in photoshop. Obviously i am limited with the buildings i use, as i can only use ones that are currently included with BF2.

The problem with the edges of the map, is that the LCS series was designed to have no access to water- as you cant swim, i have had to therefore use my own disgression to add beaches etc, to allow soldiers to get around the island easier.

Hopefully now you can see what i am getting at- The map looks crap because it is work in progress, in about a month time it will look a lot better

Please ignore the black undergrowth- its because i havent generated lightmaps

I like the idea of you mmaking it war type, but where are the roads? I don't reconize LC :p Other than that It seems you are doing good, although i dont know where you are in the pics :p

look at the minimap image... the roads are teh grey areas on the map.... dont say the roads arnt in the same place as they are in portland (apart from a few centimetres) because i spent hours manually painting them on

Looking great! Can't wait for it to finish, im sure it's gonna be a hit! And yeah! I woulld love to try it out, see if there could be some things that might need a caring hand! Sure im ready
