Flight Simulator 2004

I heared this is a great game for pilots. Does anyone have this ? Rate it on a 1-10 scale please Whats the purpose for clans on that game ? I was on some clan sites (Hello! Airlines) and they have flight schedules etc. When you fly does it actually take a while to get somewhere ? or does it take about 3 minutes ? lol

Flight times are realistic (takes about 9 or so hours to fly from Tokyo to LA, which is very realistic), or they can be uber fast (if you set auto pilot and turn up the time speed).

Its a fun game, if you like flight sims like that. I'd say 8/10

The new one should be coming out within the next couple of months.

Whats the point of clans ?

Is there actually an organized clan system ?

No idea about the clans

And I think there may be some kind of "missions" but I don't remember, been a little while since I've played and I always would do the custom stuff (custom flights that is).

They have some pretty good location representations. I was really surprised to see how much Misawa AB, Japan looks like the real thing.

Get Falcon 4. Its an f 16 simulater game. You have flight times and flight paths. There are tons of missions. You can create a mission if you want to. You can refuel in the air with tankers. There are fighter squadrons you can join online. You can customize your jet by skinning it your self. If you join a squadron they usualy have a skin that you put on your jet and you can all fly together to do missions. Its a very hard game though because its the same thing as flying a real f 16.... all the buttons work and everything.

No their is a no objectives. You are free to plan your own flight and execute it. Although the game comes with pre-prepared missions.

Whats the point of clans ?

"Clans" in FS2004 call themselves Virtual Airways/Airlines, commonly abbrievated to VA. Their purpose is to fly with their livery from their 'hub' (which is the airport that their aircraft fly from) and log flight hours.

I've played a good hundred hours of 2004 and probably twice that on 2002. I give FS2004 an 8/10. If I was you I would wait for FSX to be released if you can afford it/have the PC to run it.

I don't recall this thread being titled "I want some advice on FS games" he asked specifically about FS2004 which apart from being based on aircraft is completely different to Falcon. Even if it is an awesome game stay on topic mate.

Its a cool game flight times are realistic. you can create your own missons but there are some pre made ones. i think a newer version is coming out. the clans are just a groupd of people that fly together.

The game just keeps geting better when theay add all these terrain features.

9 hours to Tokoyo? Well last month I flew San Fran to Hong Kong in 19 hours, flew over Japan, so probally a good 16 hours...


In FS '04 I flew DC-LA, 6 hours which is a good realistic time, you can also play multiplayer wiah your friends. Ever place is realistic and the moderen jets (no military) A good game, but a newer game 'Flight simulator X' is comming out, pilots, try and download the demo, its pretty good grahhic wise plus more features. The missions in FS '04 are based on real events, like First flight in the Wright flyer, or flying the spirit of saint louis over the Atlantic Ocean.

FS2004 is the way to go, but if you want to wait abit longer for better graphics and Texture resolution (and a new graphics card in my case ) get FSX, But id Advise you to test the Demo first to see if your computer is powerful enough. As for clans, I run a small Squadron of RAAF Hawks(the aircraft in my sig), its great fun. Group Flying, Aerobatics and Formation flying is the best, Not to mention dogfights lol.

Be prepared to learn real-world flight understanding, you need to know the principles of flight like V1, VR and V2 - all related to takeoff speed, otherwise you will stall the aircraft and nose-dive into the ground. You can take in-game lessons but you have to be patient and listen to the virtual instructor carefully.

Don't expect to just be able to fly perfectly with any aicraft - it's impossible! It really helps me, and I have my real-world introduction flight very soon!
