Which is better, 2 x 512MB or 1 x 512 MB + 1 x 1GB?

Depends really you want to get to sticks that will be compatible or you will face no end of trouble with conflicts -

Get a 1GB stick so you can upgrade later to getting another 1GB stick. I'd say buy 2x1GB.Comment

RAM is second to graphics card in importance in this game.
I was running mostly low setting with a 7800GS, I got a gig of RAM adding to the 512mb I had and I'm running the game with everything on high, 1024x768.

I was able to run everything on the max (except AA, which was at 2x) on my computer when I still had a Radeon 9800 Pro, because I had 2GB of DRR500 RAM.
Now with my x1600, I run everything very smoothly either on high or maxed out (only game I can't run maxxed out is Oblivion, got to turn on or two settings to just high).Comment
