I've noticed this on a few servers lately. I'd be waiting for a chopper or jet to spawn and an engie from my team would run up and start palcing AT mines where the jet/chopper is supposed to spawn. One guy tried to jump in the jet to grab it and the mines blew killing him but not blowing up the jet? Then the engie hops in and flies off. Is this a new glitch or is it something I just haven't noticed?

Noticed it on Kubra Dam in the USMC spawns and on Dalian Plant by the PLA hanger. Same guy on both occasions was doing it. I also noticed it last week on Wake as USMC. Some guy threw mines where the F35 spawns. It spawned and he hopped in and flew off. A few minutes later the second one spwned as I was standing there holding the "E" key. The moment it spawned the mines blew and tk'd me. Of course...I punished him for it.Comment

That's because of a trick EA coded in BF2. IIRC, any objects on the vehicle's spawn area (vehicles have always done this now they might have added mines & claymores) get blown up right before the spawning of the vehicle.
I do not know if it reacts differently is FF for mines/claymores is on or off. Will have to check that.Comment
