I was thinking about purchasing a Joystick to fly Jet and Assault Helos. Is it hard to switch from your joystick to your mouse? can use both at the same time, if you want to fly switch to your joystick and infantry switch to your mouse? How does the whole joystick thing work with BF2?

Re: Joystick
Joystic? Very :)
You do need to get used to flying with joystic first thought, it will feel awkward and weird at first, but you'll get into it soon.Comment

Re: Joystick
Dont quote me on this, but I think even the cheapest 10dollar joy stick would work fine, all you need is about 3-4 buttons (machine gun, missles, weapon switch, afterburners), BF2 isnt a flight sim. But hey I could be wrong.Originally posted by PlayerOfGamesI'm not trying to hijack, but does anybody have any recommendations on which joystick is a good buy?Comment

Re: Joystick
You can use mouse keyboard and joystick without having to reset things. The control setup allows you to add joystick controls to a secondary position so that you can use mouse or joystick while flying.
Some of the better chopper pilots I have seen work great with mouse and keyboard, and there is another large group that says joysticks are the only way to go.
I don't believe in going cheap on joysticks as I have broked $300 worth of $10 joysticks. My last one was my best decision. The X-45 Saitek.Comment

Re: Joystick
For aviator, the Logitek Extreme 3D pro works great. Very inexpensive ~20-30 bucks. Good programmable buttons. Reasonably responsive. Easily calibrated.
FYI-get one with quite a few buttons. Quality pilots are constantly switching their view-> cockpit, rearchase, fly-by. Very important for dogfighting and target identification. For aviator, a joystick is required. Anyone who uses a keyboard and mouse is at an inherent disadvantage. Ignore the noob pilot above who suggested wake is too small to use a joystick on.
For heli, keyboard and mouse are the way to go. Check my stats, I know what I'm talking about.Comment

Re: Joystick
The Saitek Cyborg Evo imo is the best joystick out, it can be used with either hand and has 11 programmable buttons with 3D twist and throttle lever, its not too expensive, you can get it from around £35. All i must say is.....
BEWARE OF LOGITECH JOYSTICKS!!!!!!!!!Comment
