i have other languages' localization files under the bf2 directory and i'm currently running bf2 in english, is it possible to change the language ingame without having the game uninstalled and reinstalled?

I'd the same prob and I solved it this way:
1. Goto
..\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Localisation\
There are several folders (chinese, dutch, german, etc.).
Make sure you have those 5 utxt-files in the folder you want to change the language to. Let's say you want it to be German, so you need to have 5 utxt-files in your 'german' folder. If there aren't any, get a copy of a mate and it'll do.
2. Open Registry (Start -> Run -> regedit -> *enter* )
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2
Change Language to 'German' and Locale to 'de' for German language, change it to 'English' and 'en' for English etc...
