    I could use some help...

I'm trying to run BF2 on my system and I keep runnin into headaches. Ican usually play for a while with serious lag for usually only 2 or 3 minutes then it smoothes out. But After I've played for a while , about an hour or two later, most often in between matches I either lock up or crash somehow. Once my machine even sent me back to desktop in safe mode.

    AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.2Ghz skt 754 (I can Overclock it to 2.31Ghz)
    1 gig DDR 400 (pc 3200)
MSI K8N neo 3 mobo with nVidia nForce4 chipset
    EVGA GeForce 7300GS 256 DDR2 PcI-E
Win XP pro 32 bit SP2
    Realtek AC '97 onbourd audio
    Cable internet
    Xion 500watt PSU
Plenty of fans and cable ties...
I also run Norton Internet Security 2005 - updated regularly
SpyBotS&D and AdawareSE updated and ran frequently

I've ran the game with Norton's disabled with no improvement. I dunno What to do... any ideas. Thanks!:)

    Got 1.4 today too.

Geez... I forgot to mention I use 800 x 600 @ 75 Hertz and medium video settings. software sound settings medium detail and no VoIP

huh???? what did you have in your hand a metal rod jammed into a socket?? Never heard of anyone getting shocked putting there hand in a case when it was on.... Anwyays.. you deffinitley need another gig of ram.. that will make your lag disappear for the most part.. Onboard sound is also killing you.. A good quality sound card will also help tremendously.. for now make sure your running it with Hardware medium to low. sounds ****ty but it will run better.. Not familiiar with the 7300 line as it must be new but i'm guessing it's right up the alley of an x1600 in ati's line.. should be fine for bf2.. Sounds like mostly your running out of memory though.. another gig and you should be doing good..
