Can't reinstall BF2

Hello BF2 community,

I recently encountered a problem where I can't install my BF2. It has worked before in the past and when I try "re" installing it now it always stops about 1/4 of the way. (still on first cd) It seems to always stop somewhere with the C://European Help Files........ <--other stuff (random) Can anyone tell me what the problem is? I've verified my cd key works and I'm pretty sure my system specs are compatible with BF2... what should I do? If need be, I'll post my system specs later.

is ur disk scratched at all? that can b a problem

not sure if its 100% legal but i think u can download game images off bittorrent or just borrow a friend's isntall disk and make a mini-image or full image from his disk so u can play

I ran into the same exact problem last night. I had to uninstall it because I couldn't reasign my left shift key. Kept saying it was used somewhere else but it wasn't. I've been playing with the left shift since the game came out. Untill last week, I never had a problem. When I went to reinstall it I came up with the same prob. and it stops in the same place. I hope I don't need to delete all of my mods!

Virus: How will the game images help me install the game? Since the legality is shaky, would it work online? A link would be helpful

Legend: What steps have u taken to solve this problem? I came across the European Help Files folder and deleted it but that didn't do anything for my install. It seems to stop most frequently on C://European Files.Updating_your_sound_driver.. Maybe thats the problem?

Go into the registry (back up first) and search for "BF2" and "Battlefield 2" and deleted any references you find and you should be able to install, if not there is a problem with your disc.

Where do i find the registry?

Ive looked in control panel and did search on the start bar for Battlefield 2 to make sure I have no BF2 stuff. I can't delete some stuff because it says the file cannot be found.

Will other users on my computer affect what I am trying to do; in this case installing BF2?

I have deleated all mods and searched for more files also and I can not find anymore. My disc is cherry-not a scratch on it. virus scan comes up nadda also and I have not installed an new software lately. Talk about a bummer. Glad I still got BFV installed.

After going thru all the above agony, I borrowed a friends BF2 installer disc. His disc looked as if it came straight out of a firefight in Karkand. I stuck it in and the freakin thing worked. Completely loaded without any problems. MY disc is mint---nothing on it --what the heck happened? Reinstalling poe and all the other mods I had will be a tedious task though.
Thanks to those who chimed in to try to help me out and I hope battleidiot figures out his problem also. Try another disc if you can, it made all the difference.
