open channel on VoIP?

Hey everyone, I recently bought a new logitech headset with a mute button for the mic (a nice big fat button thats easy to hit without even looking).. and i thought of something that might be useful...

i reckon that i could easily unmute and talk and then remute the mic when organising the squad to head to the next flag or whatever, but then leave it on unmute during a firefight to enable me to just talk and not have to worry about pressing a button to transmit.

So, does anyone know if it's possible to have the VoIP setting on all the time? (obviously it would only transmit when i say something and the mute button would stop any unwanted chatter between me and my wife when i'm playing) lol

I don't think this is possible. I don't understand though. You have a headset with a mute button and you are willing to press that button, but you cannot be bothered to press a push-to-talk button? Same amount of effort being exerted either way....

well.. when my squad (for example) is about to cap a flag.. i could unmute and then just talk to the other team-mates whilst covering the movement and fire keys... without having to press a transmit button...

although, i guess i could just set a mouse key to transmit...

the goal i'm trying to get to is to be able to cover all movement keys (inc jump/prone/crouch) and also the fire and zoom/scope buttons...

One less key is a good thing during an intense exchange of fire

so you mean that your going to have your chat constantly on.....if i was in a squad and my leader was doing that...i would leave...dont spam

Use your mouse wheel. If you ahve a Logitech or a Razer mouse where the wheel can be clicked, that will hook you up completely. Darque also did point out something I was thinking initially...LOL! GL

i've got a logitech mouse yeah, the mousewheel clicker doo-daa is set for the knife (for those close quarters oh****iverunoutofammo moments)

but there's other buttons i can use instead...

I've thought about using the mouse click button for talking, but changed my mind because I thought it might not be a good idea if I'm talking and need to shoot someone at the same time. Is this common?

OP, if you use teamspeak you can set it to automatically transmit when you speak. This is the only way I really know how to do what you want to do. This setting is typically not recommended though because it usually ends up transmitting things like breathing, phone, dog, angry significant other, etc. so if you use it make sure you set the sensitivity such that the smallest noise doesn't transmit.

Teamspeak is a 3rd party program that you can use to talk to other people while you play. Typically most clan run servers (and most servers in general) will have a Teamspeak or Ventrilo (same type of program, but different...i.e: AIM vs. MSN Messenger) that you can join. Teamspeak is a free download.

The ROE (aka "Rules of Engagement") is the set of rules that players and server owners/admins are supposed to abide by while playing on ranked servers. Violating this can (often nothing happens) get your stats reset or your server delisted. You can read it in its entirety here: http://www.bfroe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=171 . It prohibits things like using hacks, setting rules that only admins can use vehicles, pistol and knife only, and a whole lot more.

As far as I know, teamspeak (aka TS) and/or ventrilo are not against the ROE. I'm sorry to say that I *won't* stop using TS if it is as such a rule is just asinine.

I think he would use it like voice activation in Vent or Ts. He won't be constently transmiting...
