BF2 to bf2142? Did i miss something?

ye i have had my head in the sand an being taken no notice of the networking news...i know you say no bf2142 topics but this is not just about that but bf2 aswell.

account tranfers? can you transfer your bf2 account to 2142?
also what is this veteran program thing...

you can keep your username but you cant transfer acounts. IMO BF2 will be better.

ive played it, 2142 is indeed better than bf2, if not only for the reason that the gameplay inbalance/flatlined learning curve of bf2 isnt there

I've enjoyed the beta quite a bit. It's as fun as if not more than when I played the BF2 demo last year. I agree with Roger's observation of the learning curve. It's good for a game to be challenging and not the kind where you perfect it right off the bat. I hate the console game feel that other titles have taken on.

hopefully with the learning curve you are all talking about (and the huge range of unlocks) we will find that more people 'specialise' in certain roles - for example, i will be aiming (pardon the pun) of getting everything I can to be an awesome sniper...

have you found this is happening in the beta - ie, that players are mostly staying with one kit...?

Best of luck with sniper. Instead of the rock steady sights and cone of fire we have in BF2. The 2142 sniper rifles "sway." Think of it as being able to see the cone of fire and being able to manually adjust for it. Plus there is a stabalizer unlock that well, you guessed it. They need to be tweaked still, since in beta, you get no advantage from crouching or going prone.

As for the other kits, I think you will see people specialize, but not right away. People will need to find out which kit they enjoy the most. I think kit specialization will also influence which maps people play the most. If I'm a dedicated Engineer, I'm going to like the more wide open vehicle heavy maps since I have an advantage. Same if I'm dedicated Assault guy, I'm going to favor close urban, no armor, settings.

actually the weapons are still poorly and inproperly implemented, its the soldier to vehicle conflict thats perfect (except the walker) im sure the kit stuff just needs to be iorned out better, but some of the key things that are keeping bf2 from being its best are fixed in 2142, thats what i was talking about. the whole way tank combat is layed out is really fair and balanced, same with air vehicles apcs and cars, its all very close to perfect. the game needs work, but just things that can be tweaked, bf2 needs alot more than a few tweaks.
