I was recently having high pings in the 2000+ range on every server since the 1.4 patch. If anyone is having this problem and has any version of Mcafee virus scan or that you need to uninstall it. This fixed all my high pings. Good Luck!

I get pings in the 200 range for about 30 seconds, too often now. It is annoying as hell, and only because 1.4 jsut decreases the performance of the bf2 engine more.

Thats odd i have never heard of virus scan uping the ping like that.

McAffee and Norton both are garbage, AVG is better. First of all, Norton and McAffee both basically hijack your computer and the files go everywhere. You should not really play BF2 with a AV program running at all in the background, it steals far too many resources. For those struggling with 1GB of ram, it gets exponentially worse.

Update Punkbuster's server.

Go to Punkbuster's website, and download pbsetup.exe.

I'd go find the site for you, but this is the fiftieth time I've said this on this forum, and I'm too tired to do it now. :p

I've got AVG. the only problem with it is it scans automatically when you log in so you have to stop the scan before loading up BF2 or you get mega LAG!

The only program you need to keep your system clean is Ewido Security Suite. In the past it has found Trojans and spyware that not Mcafee couldn't find. And it's free.>www.ewido.com

If your hellbent on spending $ on some bigtime AV program, go with 'Bitdefender.'
