Hi,
I recently purchased BF2 Deluxe (which includes the base game and SF) After installing the game (the installer loads both base game and the add-on at the same time), I downloaded the full 1.4 patch, and attempted to install. Funny thing is, upon clicking the patch .exe, there is a very long delay before the unpacking program begins to run. This delay lasts 3-6 minutes, (taskmanager shows the .exe running, using about 2-15 percent of cpu, however there is no other on-screen indication that the patch proggie is running. Eventually after no onscreen indication the unpacker will start, and go through its process of apparently patching the game. Once this process is finished, I get the pop-up indicating installation complete (no unpacking errors), and attempt to run the game. Of course, when the game starts, and after attempting to log into my game account, an ingame alert window appears telling me to "download patch 1.4 now!" Very bothersome. It is very increasingly strange that the ingame version code reads 1.1.2963-795.0 (which as far as im aware indicates patch 1.4 did install) and the patch logs in the bf2 dir appear as though the patch installed sucessfully. I have downloaded the massive 530 meg patch three times now, have fully removed and reinstalled the game three times (using regedit and all), but to no avail. As well, I have swapped my ram out for another stick (after reading that bad ram can cause a similar error) I have attempted to play online despite the prompt telling me to install the patch (which of course was just installed), and upon attempting to connect to a server I get the "unmodified content" error. As a side note, I also have tried downloading the patch from gamers hell twice (comes as a .zip) and both times the file has been corrupted - and yes, I have tried multiple zip unpackers to unzip said file.
If anyone can offer suggestions or tips to this problem I would greatly appreciate it. As well, I apologize for writing such a long description of this confounded problem. :p
Big thanks to anyone that can help!
