Will we see a 1.5 and 1.6 patch? 1.4 just came out and leading up to that patch, there was a great deal of heated speculation that 1.4 would be the end. What can we expect from DiCE in the next six months? Is there anything for us to chew on till the next official announcements for the beta program?

Re: Beyond 1.4
I hope not, the single player issues introduced with 1.3 make it totally unplayable. The squad bug is as bad as I have ever seen it. -

Re: Beyond 1.4
The list for the myriad of things that people would love addressed in the game goes on as long as my arm. The hope? That DICE doesn't it just leave it at that and call it a day, because as long as that complaint list is, a few at the top like J-10/F-35 and a real good demonstration of anti hacking feats, would make many go, K, thats cool now.
The paradox is the J-10/F-35 issue has already been described to the community as a hopeless affair, so deep is the underlying cause of the imbalance in the coding that to get it right would require more work than DICE will ever put into BF2. Also, what allows the haxing crap out there to exsist, that is the expliots in the background of the game, are also too deep to make any meaningfull easy changes.
The thing we can clearly see is that DICE does not just have one part of the Battlefield Franchise to concentrate on now. They have spread their wings into a console port and 2142. These are resources that are not going back to BF2 and what is devoted to BF2 in terms of manpower will now surely shrink further with the release of 1.4.
Should there be another release? - Yes
Will there be another release? - Probably, but not soon, and nothing major. (If anything a tweak to IO and the Jally map.)Comment

Re: Beyond 1.4
this all stems from some statement I recall hearing, sorry I don't know the source but it seemed factual, that DiCE had learned from their mistakes in BF2 and were washing their hands of it and moving on. I seem to recall it being somewhat official, like it was an interview or something. It did not say 'they were stopping support' though.Comment

Re: Beyond 1.4
It would be bad policy of DICE/Ea to ditch Bf2 in the state it's in.
1.4 is a big improvement but there are still huge issues such as the CTD!
If they leave BF2 as it is I wont be buying any products which involve Ea and DICE. (Don't forget EA, I own several other consoles as well as my pc). If its left as it is, it just proves EA are out for money and nothing else, which I know a huge company like Ea has to keep the share holders happy, but if the customers aren't happy.........
I wish DICE or EA would comment on the future, but they seems too busy with BF2142 to comment!Comment

Re: Beyond 1.4
I really hope they do not drop support, obviously the client base is rather large and for either EA or DiCE to do this would be incredibly stupid. That said, I think we'll see more patches

The only thing I want to be seen adressed is the J-10 F35-B issue.. Rest is fine except for the tiny bugs left then.Comment

I know nothing about programming/writing pc games, but why dont DICE make the f35 better rather than adjusting the J10?Originally posted by KMTThe only thing I want to be seen adressed is the J-10 F35-B issue.. Rest is fine except for the tiny bugs left then.Comment

Re: Beyond 1.4
I dont have the link, but DICE already publicaly said they wouldnt make any more major gameplay changes to BF2. Now, this can mean no more patchs, and only updates or hotfixes, or it could mean DICE no longer cares about BF2 all together.Comment

Re: Beyond 1.4
You know, it is Sept and that could be realistic, 3 months till 1.5. I would like them to really work long and hard on a patch. I figure even after 2142 is released, Stockholm will be supporting it for a few months before it goes to Canada.Originally posted by Sir. So that means Canada can keep working on future patches till it shifts. I want to see though what is on the whiteboard, and when we can expect something new in the beta program.Comment

Re: Beyond 1.4
I agree with what Jameslcross said above! Either they fix the bugs in BF2 or I wont spend of my money on another EA product no matter how good it is. I dont need another map or a weapon fixed or the game made more stupidly easy (its already to easy). Just fix the bugs like the CTD and such. If you can.
While im at it, If the game was in its current state when I was playing the demo in june of 2005 I wouldnt have bought it and wouldnt have any of these problems! Not any point in me throwing good money after bad now is there. If BF2 was a dog I would have already taken it to the Vet. and had it put to sleep. . . . . . . . .RedComment

Re: Beyond 1.4
you peeps know what the next patch is already - BF2142 and it will cost you $50 and probably another $30 for some extra maps.
kind of what they did with bf:v - game sucked after they patched it till it was not even worth playing, so i think the whole bf:v game was just a huge $$$ making beta for bf2.
i haven't played 2142 but from the screen shots i have seen and movies all it looks like to me is a mod for bf2
ea loves $$$ - they made over $100 million in a very short time with madden 2007, and is the gameplay any different than the older versions - no, just different names and possibly different uniforms
i have no issues with a company making a lot of $$$$, but when quality goes down to the point that almost every thread you see with bf2 anywhere has a list of issues, there needs to be something done. ea is sh!tt!ng on their own userbase..dumb idea
personally i am looking foward to enemy territory:quake wars
interesting how the demo was better than where we are at now....if i could find some 1.0 ranked servers i would game on them:ar15:Originally posted by redriderI agree with what Jameslcross said above!
