Incremental or full patch?

I am switching over to a new Hard Drive (10,000 rpm) and wanted to know if I should go with the incremental or full 1.4 patch.
I have seen the full patch recommended before, but I have seen people post with crash problems on the full 1.4. Is that more their system or does anyone know if the full patch is less stable than the incremental?
Don't know much about this stuff (difference in the two).

I know the increm patch causes the server you are playing on to crash... atl east with 1.3

I always recommend a complete uninstall, re-install, and application of the FULL patch.

Less room for problems that way.

OK, I know these are going to sound like stupid "noob" questions to some but I can't locate the answer in any other thread so here goes...

1. If I uninstall BF2 and then reinstall and then use the full 1.4 patch do I lose anything? (unlocks, player profile, player ID, stats, rank)?

2. How do I clean out any residual files (cache?) that slow things down without losing those assets listed above?

Yep the full is the best bet then you know for sure that .. it is packed correctly and installed all at the same time.......

Don't worry about asking newbie questions. Some people here like to help people out as much as they can. :)

1. No, you don't lose everything. Everything is tied to you login. If you have EF or AF you need to install them in steps. You just can't uninstall and reinstall bf2 +latest patch.

2. In My Documents there is a BF2 folder. That holds your profiles, server favorits and server logo's. I wouldn't delete this unless you feel like remapping your keys. IF you use the default setup then go ahead.

i like incrementals since theyre a big time saver...patching a full patch takes wat..an hour now? and i havent had any issues with incrementals..and theyre suppose to not be crap, but if u want to stick with the slow safe side...full would be fine
