1.4 Problems

I installed the 1.4 incremental patch then after that the game crashed before it got loaded. Now i reinstalled bf2 then i installed the 1.4 full patch. And the same thing. Also when i load the game the little icon that has battlefield 2 at the bottom of the screen says battlefield 2 and has a blank box beside it, not sure if thats good or bad. And yes i suck with computers.

ps.... I know there is a thread about 1.4 problems but its too frikin long to read and all it is, is a bunch of flamming and people screaming at each other.

My first thought would be that the little blank box in your task bar is some kind of message (be it an error or whatever) that is preventing BF2 from loading.

Also, I've heard that some of the 1.4 patch releases were actaully beta releases and had problems. Double check you got the full patch from a reliable source. (Fileplanet, or check the EA BF2 site)

I downloaded it from a link i got from ea's website. I thnk it was hellgaming or something like that. Is that a reliable source.

I found out what was wrong. I had to go into nortens firewall and manuelly configure it to allow bf2 to run. The little box that usually comes up to see if you want to allow progrms to run didnt come up, thats why i did it manuelly. Hope this helps
