    Insta-prone BS....

Okay, I'm watching a show on Discovery channel right now and I just saw an old man drop into a firing position on the move in less than a second I swear. That being said he's an old man and todays army has knee and elbow pads. So to that I say quit the whining about that so much. A little is fine it's just the people focus so much on such crap.

Second the M-16 weighs in at around 7 pounds or so, it's been awhile I forget now. With the pistol grip on that rifle you can get up and crack of a round with a little accuracy one handed but I wouldn't bet on any other shots being on target but that doesn't matter as in that time you'd be up and have two hands on a rifle. Ak-101's are heavier but hey you're a soldier 12 pounds in one hand isn't that much.

The delay is a little silly as it limits some game play, they would have been much better off reducing accuracy during the transition. Luck does come play a factor in real life as well.

Edit/// Wow, so in posting this I'm a whiner too. Go me.

It's not the insta-prone that bothers many BF2 players, it's the insta-prone accuracy that one gets when going insta-prone....

Leaping up in the air then going into prone in mid air, rolling around in mid air, silly amounts of accuracy while doing this...

      That bothers me.

This prone delay is stupid. If a tank or apc is comming at you, you're gonna hit the deck quicker than you think possible. I must have died at least 10 times today trying to fire AT rockets and proning behind a wall because my AT kit developed severe arthritus in his knees.

Should have kept the speed and changed the deviation to that of standing for 1 sec instead.

The ability to macro program your left mouse button or keyboard keys with the prone, aim, fire macros along with getting the increased accuracy bonus of being prone is the issue at heart.

Gives others an unfair advantage to the rest of us 3 step button pushers.

Plus it looks kind of wacky in the animation that you drop, roll while spraying bullets wildly and yet kill the enemy.

To reduce dolphin diver should of also delayed a 1 or 2 sec while hitting the ground from going to stand to prone. Then people will use it for what it was really meant for "To jump dive behind a wall and hide"

The issue in real life is the rest of the crap we wear. The weap with full mag is around 8lbs. no biggie but the body armor/ kevlar / LBE/ water/ the other 6 full mags/ butt pack and what ever other **** you may have add up. I'm not saying you cant drop and fire, especially if your getting shot at but you cant shoot while going down. You could get away with firing while you get up absolutly. You wont be real accurate but if you get up at a slow but still quick pace you can fire effectivly.

That said it is a game and it will frustrate someone somewhere no doubt.
I would be more interested in having some of the weapons be more powerfull than having realistic prone/unprone. The 50 for ex. is rediculasly underpowered. It should cut people in half from any distance yet it takes at least 2 body shots. There would be no chest if I shot you with a 50, even into body armor. Our armor is only good for a 7.62 round. The At is a joke. It can't kill a person if it's more than 3 feet away. Come on. The 203 granades are under powered also. I walked around one of the big rocks in jalalabab and had 4-5 people huddled there. easy kill right? Not one of them died. I exploded right next to them and it didn't kill anyone. That is not acceptable. The frag is about the only thing true to life explosive wise in the game I think. the AT should have as much range as it when firing on infantry.
Again its all a balancing act for them. you cant have a real 50 cuz none would use anything else I guess.

                      Re: Insta-prone BS....

Isn't the delay from prone to crouch?

I'd like to see anyone lay prone on the ground with full gear and try to get into crouching position as fast as it was in BF2. Try it out on your floor right now with your remote control as a weapon... you still won't do it as fast as in game. And even if 1 guy out of 1000 can do it, the game should be the average.

My only issue with the delay is that it's kind of clunky. If they were to smooth it out a bit so it isn't so jumpy it would be perfect.

As far as dropping to the ground, you can still do that easily.

I do agree that they should have never removed shooting completely. It's just one of those bad decisions that isn't thought through very well (or maybe it's an engine limitation... who knows).

You should be able to fire your rifle at all times, but when the delay happens the deviation has to go to it's maximum. That way you wont hit squat unless the guy is like 1 foot away.

yay.. lets complain more about prone, because 1.4 obviously hasnt nerfed it enough.

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed, but all these limitations that have been added onto the infantry class has introduced this laggy/blocky movement affect (its not internet / computer lag [10ms ping with a solid 80fps])

This may not sound pleasant, but you people need to STFU (thread starter). This game has been nerfed to high hell because of you whiners.
