    Tanks and planes a crutch? IO mode is the ultimate crutch. Like you said... and I quote:

    "There is nothing lamer than moving as a 5 man squad across the front lawn of the Palace on Warlord only to have an APC rumble around the corner and wipe you out"

    I consider at least 2 AT to be a vital addition to any squad. Now add on to that proper squad positioning, usage of commander assets, listening to the sounds on the map your 2 AT soldiers should be ready for that APC and they should've converted him in to flamng wreckage in a heartbeat. If they can't then you die and that is the price of bringing out an unskilled or unprepared squad. Again, tactics. If you and your squad can't handle a basic function such as that then go to IO mode and enjoy the crutch.

    You want your ambient sounds? Go back to the real game and enjoy them. But remember they aren't shallow ambient sounds but rather real threats and real occurances on the Battlefield that you need to be aware of in order to do well.

        [QUOTE=Consultant01]The battlefield feels sterile.

        It would be nice if they could add an ambient soundtrack to the map as a whole, in addition to the position based immersion sounds (the moaning of the bridges, the flys around the dumpsters are nice, but it isnt immersive and warlike).

        I have been looking for those darn flies.... You mean they are in the game all this time? LOL

          Not because of the lack of vehicles or artillery... but because of the lack of ambient noise. The sound of far-off artillery and the rumble of 105mm cannon fire makes the battle "feel" more real. Walking down a silent street on a silent map in the middle of the day with the only sound being that of your boots on the sidewalk just feels too "clean" and not like a war.

          The quality of the fighting I had last night and the pure squad tactics on the moongamers server were awesome. There is nothing lamer than moving as a 5 man squad across the front lawn of the Palace on Warlord only to have an APC rumble around the corner and wipe you out. A well-manned squad cant stop an APC at 20 yards in the time it takes the APC to take you all out... I <3 IO mode... it's just too quiet.

          Anybody else recognize this?
          tried the io on our server and honestly i had been looking forward to it and loved it on karkand and mastur but the other maps were so boring in io mode...doubt we will use io mode very often cause we have to reboot the server to get in and out of io mode, to bad theres not a by map selection tool for io...

            What about UAV, and the other part of the enemy team that isnt just a single roaming apc?

              I do believe the correct tactic is to sprint one at a time, from cover to cover across open ground i.e. the lawn. If your whole squad goes down to a single APC while point hungry squad members try to be first in their me, me, me rush for the points grab then I say tough.

                Dude, get over yourself. IO appears to be popular at the moment and what a lot of people wanted.

                Whats your big problem with it? Oh hang on, I know. Without people on the ground to lay waste to with impunity, you're now just a **** flying about in a jet on his lonesome....

                    On some maps they have like birds and stuff, but I never really payed attention enough to listen for silence.

                      I almost had an underpants accident the other night, running around Jalalabad IO and set off a flock of birds....

                      Way to move away from the thread topic with your lame rant about IO mode. Dork.
