1.4 Patch, crashing instantly.

I had been playing BF2 for about a day, it worked basically 100% fine for me, no problems oter than a disconnection from servers after playing straight for 2-3 hours, reconnecting to the server fixed it easily.

I decided to download 1.4 to see what was better, I spent 4 hours downloading it (Net's slow lately) and then spent another 20 minutes installing it, now my game pulls up, my screen flashes between black and white 2-3 times before it just slams me back onto my desktop, and the game has been closed, sup?

I just bought the special forces and edition, and I have the exact same thing happen. I cant find out how to fix this anywhere

I'm having the same problem here,When I start my game, I get the black "about to start" screen, then straight back to desktop. I probably screwed up, I installed the 1.4 full patch, and havent been able to find out which files to delete to get the old 1.3 patch out. I suspect thats my problem. I hope i don't have to reinstall, my controllers are many, and it takes awhile to set them all up...

Guys try a fresh install.
Copy your control down then it wont be that much of a issue.

I was thinking maybe if I save the "profiles" and "settings" folders in the BF2 folder to my desktop, Reinstall, Then switch the folders out, then repatch with 1.4, I wont have to resetup all my controller options and restore my profiles...any thoughts?

I had the same problem but a fresh Re-install fixed it... ticked me off though

wat type of 1.4 did u download? the full or the incremental

I get it, thanks Conscript.Its my first day here, I'll get the hang of it in a day or 2, I downloaded the full 1.4, even though i had the 1.3 Full installed already.The reason I DL ed the Full version was because I read that alot of people who got the incremental 1.2 -1.3 had more problems, so when 1.4 came out, I figured I'd be better off with the full version
