    performance issue after re-format

So I download the 1.4 full patch after formatting and installing all the latest Drivers for everything except my sound card (thought the packaged Drivers were supposed to be best) and I get a slide show in some areas. This is an example of a map in POE2, which actually runs with less stuttering than BF2. For those that don't want to save/expand this image, it is dropping to as low as 2fps in game. Averaging 40fps with a pretty decent rig is absolutely ridiculous. No other games have problems.

PS: If you wanna whine about me complaining, then drink a gallon of Bleach first.

There has got to be something wrong with your hardware... I am specifically talking about you using some sort of conflicting hardware and/or you not having the right drivers installed for motherboard, cpu, graphics card, etc.

If you are looking for help, then tell us your pc specs and drivers etc..
if you're just aiming to vent some steam, then i hope you did that :) (I turn to forums for that sometimes too)

it's not the game, you have hardware, driver or configuration errors..

sounds like you forgot to install your motherboard drivers to me..

Stop overclocking and expecting everything to behave with BF2.

                      Re: performance issue after re-format

Does the exact same thing with no overclocking. This is with 31.33 Forceware, Nforce4 6.70 AMD drivers, X-Fi's latest drivers and newest Bios for my mobo (did those last night) and no change. Every game I play runs GREAT except BF2.

Now, what do games like Oblivion, FEAR, and COD2 have that might make them run better than BF2 by a large margin.

PS: I have tried other PSU's, Motherboards, my old 7800GT, RAM, and I just got the sound card. This is rediculous.

                        Re: performance issue after re-format

My FPS went from a very smooth 80-100 FPS in a full 32 player server on 1.3 to 40-60 FPS with extreme spiking, like you experience, on 1.4. So I basically lost 40-50% FPS with this patch...HORRIBLE PERFORMANCE. Go in an empty server, sidestep in a circle and watch all the jittery frames as you circle around. That didnt happen in 1.3. This poor performance causes gun sights to up and down randomly and for no reason and the inability to sprint, jump, or switch weopons. Here's my experience with patches: Retail ran like crap, 1.2 ran smooth, 1.21 ran like crap, 1.3 ran smooth, 1.4 runs like crap.

                        SPECS:
                        P4 630 @ 3.3 Ghz
                        2 GB OCZ Gold DDR2 533, 3-3-3-8
                        ATI X800 GT 256 MB
                        ASUS P5LD2-VM

hope I don't have this problem. I've got a heavy OC'd rid and getting the game again tomorrow. 2142 I play all high no AA average 70fps, spikes no less than 50 in insane firefights. all this on 1gb of ram?!?! :P

                          specs.
                          x2 3800 @ 2.6ghz
                          epox 9npa + sli
                          x1800xt 256mb 711/880 bench 3dmark05 10,251 (not bad for the $200 i just paid for it)
                          1gb g.skill ddr500 @ 260mhz 3-4-4-8
                          1 - 250gb sata2

@ dethred you try placing a stick of ram in a differenct colored slot? I read some asus boards are weird like that. try updating your motherboard drivers if all else fails you could always flash a new bios nm just read it. you have newest .net framework? That was required before I installed my catalyst drivers. I take it you have sp2?

try the 91.47 forceware. they helped me but i didn't go from the 91.33
i had older drivers. but i still don't get the framerates i got in 1.3
but it's a lot better than it was.

also did you delete the cache files?
