Finally got 1.4 working
I got the game just when 1.3 was released and for the most part I only played the unpatched version or 1.22 and some time on the 1.4 beta2 that one was working well until all of the sudden all the servers vanished, later got SF and I did not find a server with people on it so never had access to the unlocks, I installed the 1.4 patch and ban! CTD at startup uninstalled reinstalled same results.
This fixed that problem at startup;
-Reformatted and reinstalled XP
-Installed all drivers
-Insatlled BF2 I did not restart after installation
-Installed SF
-Do not try to run the game until you install 1.4
-Installed 1.4 patch
When I started the game the screen went black longer than the usual, and then the ea logo appeared, logged in in a SF map and 10 seconds into it I get my veteran and expert knife badge, when I left the map I got 5 new unlocks to chose from, all I can say is that is finally working if you are having trouble follow the instructions I had to reinstall XP anyway. It took me about six hours to do this.
