    Please help 1.4 prob, uninstall-install

Firstly apoligies if this has already been covered, however i had a good look and some threads are similiar although not quite the same.

    any help greatly appreciated

after installation of 1.4 my game crashes to desktop when i double click the icon to start the game. the bf2 screen comes up it goes black and goes right back to desktop before it reaches the logon screen.

Tried to Uninstall, it wont let me do that.

ive also tried to fire up the game via the CD, i now notice that both the "play now" and "play online" icons are not highlighted
    tried a defrag/repatch, system restore

ended up deleting the entire EA folder, and trying to re-install BF2, the installation wizard starts up then just goes straight back to desktop

    so cant un-install or re-install

any advice please, not that techy with this sort of stuff

    Cheers

Re: Please help 1.4 prob, uninstall-install

yep welcome to the club mate, i am having the exact same problem with SF driving me insane. although i did manage to get BF2 working here is how >>

Delete the folder where BF2 was installed.

Delete or move the Battlefield 2 folder in My Documents, it has you keyboard and video settings etc. Best is probaly to delete to start from fresh install.

Open registy database with regedit.exe and find and delete the keys listed in BOLD below, and thus all settings they contain.

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2]

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DICE\Battlefield 2(TM)]

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\{04858915-9F49-4B2A-AED4-DC49A7DE6A7B}]

then restart and install proble, free . alternatively try this link ?>>
