    an overall success, bit of a mixed bag

    ok, seeing as the patch came out, i decided to start from scratch with the game, i meticulously uninstalled ALL of bf2 and boosters etc etc, went through the registry with a fine toothcomb,

    i then did this

    installed;

    original BF2 off dvd {what is that version 1.0?)
    SF
    1.4 full
    EF
    1.4 full
    AF
    1.4 full

    and i want to add that i have had a few CTD's, but in-game its so much better for me, i used to get graphical lag in AF,EF,SF now they are ALL as smooth as anything, which is brilliant as i can now broaden my gaming experience.

    i have had a few lost connection to server drop puts also whilst playing....but at least i can play any level of any booster i want now with smoothness, i fear this result is more to do with using fulls not incrementals and the order in which i did this, rather than 1.4 being a miracle patch....but with extended playing today some more, hope it will seem better also in its gameplay.

    i think all i am trying to blabber on about is that i am relieved that for me this has improved my all round experience with bf2 rather than knackered it some more...phew!!!!

    +1

    so far, things seem to be running great on my end too. I went straight from 1.22 > 1.4, so I was biting my lip when I loaded up to go in and test it out. still pretty early, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

      Hmm, I'll have to see if I can locate my BF2 original CDs and try doing a fresh install as you've suggested. If it can boost my FPS out of needing to play on Low I'll be a happy man
