So, did the 1.4 patch help or hurt sf? I haven't downloaded or installed the new patch since I'm at work but I'm VERY curious how it has affected my beloved sf.

Re: 1.4 + Sf = ??
Played fine for us. We have Ghost, Warlord, Mass, Surge, and Iron Gator in the map cycle. Nice to go through the whole map without a server crash.
Some had some initial patch problems, but nothing out of the ordinary.
Make sure you delete your video cache and let it reoptimize the video settings. The patch deletes the video.con file from your profile so that you must must select the video settings. This also initiats a new video optimization.
Helos seem more responsive to the contols...or overly responsive, but thats easy to get use to.Comment

Re: 1.4 + Sf = ??
Did the patch help as far as video settings? For vanilla I have everything on high but for SF I have to set things to all medium with no AA. That gets real annoying when you want to switch from one to the other because when you change some settings you have to restart the game. Anyone know if they fixed this?Comment

Re: 1.4 + Sf = ??
That's not something that will get fixed. There are vastly more surfaces to render in SF maps. Almost all the roofs are accessible one way or another, there are more buildings (with more surfaces) to crawl around inside. Loading up all those surfaces and rendering their transition taxes your memory and your GPU. Gator lags for most people with medium-to-almost-high-end hardware for this reason.Originally posted by sleazellDid the patch help as far as video settings? There just isn't going to be a software "fix" that will make SF play the same as vBF2. If you want it pretty and fast, you need a 7900gt or an x1900xt and 2gb memory with a modern processor.Comment

Iron Gator is a total pill; my FPS goes to hell in the MEC main spawn (refer to my PC stats)Originally posted by megawhompertooThat's not something that will get fixed. I think it's a combo of bad coding + renders and a good computer can only fix 1/2 of that problem.Comment

Re: 1.4 + Sf = ??
hi all my first post here the one thing i have noticed is that the sniper rifle now kills what it hits 90% of the time where as befor i had to take 2 -3 shots to get a kill which drove me crazy i mean come on in real life you hit someone square in the upper chest they gonna go down i now take head shots instead.
seems to get the job doneComment
