Crash upon launch (thanx patch)

I had a lot of faith in this patch but screwed me over again it crashs to desktop as soon as I click launch any help please?

my specs

x800xl
audigy 2zs
2.4 p4
160 gig hardrive
17inch lcd
600watt psu

if you got the incremental 1.3 to 1.4 patch, try the full install, or vice versa

yeah i get exactly the same, not even an error, just crash

well im downloading the full and reinstalling the game as we speak so I will post back to see if that helps glad to see that im not the only one :) why cant they patch the game like other games without the hassle :P

me too, downloaded the full patch thinkin it would be safer :-( now it just goes black n then back to the desktop

well it worked and i tryed that new map with infantry only and im getting terrible lag lol ping was over 150 which it has neve rbeen before i think that is it for me with bf2 the patchs have ruined it for me why not just leave it alone :P
