well clearly filecloud must have put the wrong file up under the wrong title! or prolly its a conspiracy by EA to screw everyone's machines up and just make them give up and buy 2142. actually i know! it must be that all the filecloud staff are complete morons and just wanted to act like they had the file when they didn't!

or wait... maybe you just downloaded the wrong file? naw... no way it could be that.

downloaded the incremental from filecloud, installed it and it's the 1.4 beta.. what gives?

The filecloud incremental patch should be correct, the md5sums are correct with the one from the EA ftp site, unless EA screwed up again.

I used the filefront full patch myself. BTW, the filecloud full patch md5sum is the same as the one that I am using from filefront.

EDIT NOTE - Just noticed that the filecloud file you referenced and the one I reference above are different. The totalbf2 filecloud file seems to be incorrect, use the link above instead.

Update on patch hosting...both incremental and full versions can be downloaded here...

Make sure to backup your BF2 directory before installing. It will make easier to roll back if you have problems resulting from the 1.4 install.

Yeah, I modified the original beta patch info and posted this info for my team:

Installation steps to protect your original BF2 install:

1. Go to “C:\Program Files\EA GAMES”
2. Right click the “Battlefield 2” folder and choose “Copy”
3. Right click anywhere away from this folder and choose “Paste”
4. Once the copy has completed, you will have two folders named “Battlefield 2” and “Copy of Battlefield 2”
5. Install the patch 1.4 incremental, then start the game as normal

When you wish to switch back to the 1.3 patch version of BF2, use the following steps:

1. Go to “C:\Program Files\EA GAMES”
2. Right click the “Battlefield 2” folder and choose “Rename”
3. Rename the folder to something like “Battlefield 2 increm”
4. Right click the “Copy of Battlefield 2” folder
5. Rename the folder the “Battlefield 2”
6. Now start the game as normal, this is the 1.3 patched version.

The shortcut will run BF2.exe from whichever folder is named “Battlefield 2” and both installations share the same registry entries. So you can run either, just by changing directory names.

Now you can install the full 1.4 patch when the downloads are running at a normal rate again. If you do not have any problems with the incremental, then no loss.

Using the above steps will negate the need to completely uninstall and re-install if there are any issues with the 1.4 incremental patch.

I'm not anyone from this site, but someone posted this earlier, and I'm getting ~800kbps from it at this very second. 2 minute download.

EDIT: I'm now downloading the full patch at ~900kbps, 8 minute download. 8 minutes is how long it took me to get the incremental from FileFront.

StrafeRight FTW. They had the fastest server of everyone. Tried them all. I was getting 4200KB from their site.
