How long will BF2 last? before BF3?

To all you veterans out there, how long will this game last? with ranked servers? with unranked? how long will it last til BF3? I've heard all the hype with BF2142 and yes ,guilty as charged ,I'll buy a copy, but honestly looking forward to BF3 and more modern day combat (if that's the case) If some of you guys have played the previous games in the series, how long did they last? I understand from qtracker and game monitor some people still play BF 1942 and BF:V. I plan on playing it til you can't anyone.

What would BF3 basically be?

Cos BF1 = 1942 where the BF "1" = 1942
BF"2" = 2000+

BF3 = 2142?

Bf3 is supposed to be set only acouple of years after Bf2, but apart from that dont know.

I have to say though, with the amount of content that 2142 brings to the table, Bf3 should one hell of a game.

the unreal engine 3 you mean, and they might also get their hands on Crysis so getting the CryEngine also

could be aiming for their DX10 game release

Nah. BF2 is called BF2 because it's the second BF engine. 2142 and BF2 are both on the second BF engine. BF3 would mean the third version of the engine. I'd say another year, but mods on BF2 will last longer than that.

I will say another year or so
Thanks to PoE, Sandbox, and other mods
The mods are the only thing saving BF2 now
I say another year, because everyone will just be playing the Mod
or in Ranked BF2 servers
stat padding, That's my guess
But I will still be playing PoE
One of my farovite maps, is First Snow
I love using the Anti-matter rifle
