TBH it always was and always will be more to the realism audience. In PoE if your hit its *ouch!* not *Oh I broke a nail* IMO it influences teamwork like no other mod, and it isnt too realistic so it takes away the fun side.

Re: POE2 and the hype it caused

well i originally played POE for battlefeild vietnam and i really didnt give it enough time say 1 hour and then just forgot about it

i gave POE2 more time so i could get into the style of gameplay so far i say ive played about 15 hours of POE2 and i find the maps really well thought out and made i dont like the biggest maps such as OP sambir but fallen and the river crossing one are great the action is not quite as intense as BF2 as you die faster and you have to really keep your eyes open you have to play the game more like CSS or COD and less like quake and such as damage done by weapons is far greater that might be for you or it might not

another thing that i was really impressed by was the tanks and how you can switch from armour piercing rounds to high explosive rounds

i still thing the engineer kit should be made more powerful i dont see many using it much like bf2

This mod is amazing in my opinion. I have very few complaints. Bugs and gameplay issues are minor in comparison to Vanilla.

Balance is infinitely better and I don't feel disadvantaged with any type of kit / vehicle.

Well done to the devs. Keep up the good work :)

At least the bullets go where you aim, unlike BF2 which uses the random cone of fire. So that means the better players will get the most kills. Much of the luck factor has been removed.

            THANK GOD!

Not TOO laser like accuracy but the bullets go where you aim them.

Re: POE2 and the hype it caused

I was a very big fan of POE for BF Vietnam, and the POE2 team has done it again.

The mod offers great diversity in terms of map sizes, weapon selection, kit layouts, player controlled art. strikes which actually require some form of teamwork and dare I say, a little skill.

The air support has no more dominance as it always did, if the team works as a team. If you're being raped by the Tornado, then have several team members mount the AA cannons. You will be ripped apart in seconds and give your team a chance to reach their destination. There is no room for error on the pilot's part.

Mind you, I find that Eurocopter incredibly easy to fly kill with, since it has a great arsenal. However, because there are Stinger and SA-7 kits laying around, the mobile AAs offer incredible firepower ready to rip apart anything in its path, I see more helicopters having to flee and less jet bombings/attacks on specific points.

I see more infantry combat then ever before, and I notice a greater advantage for infantry on most vehicle maps as well. Simply being able to hide in longer grass, as OPK first provided us with, gives you a great way of covering your tracks and offering the infantry class a better chance of overall survival on the massive Battlefields.

The assault kits and medic kits for both sides REALLY do damage in terms of single shots. The only kit I would like to see a change in is the support with the PKM, as I tire from playing with it. Something different perhaps?

POE2 has brought in a lot of hype for just reason: 13 new maps with new vehicles, equality on the Battlefields, and overall a feeling of actually fullfilling your part as any kit you desire. I felt V BF2 was drawing in too much of a younger crowd who's only goal(s) was to be the best of the best, without thinking of their team first.

Yeah, I've seen servers with cheaters already, clans taking direct laser-guided hits and not being killed, self-repairing helicopters and jets, but I guess it comes with the territory. The mod won't be for everyone, that's is definite. But if you're wondering WHY the hype was so big in this game, take a closer look at all the details they offer, the grandeur of the maps, the smoother framerates, and if you're on the right server, and several unranked servers have proved this before, more teamwork and less "i'm the best" single player running and gunning.

Oh, and did I mention the anti-material rifles are AMAZING? I was able to shoot out a damaged helicopter on the run, take down jeeps trying to escape a tank, etc etc. Oh, and these same rifles offer great anti-personnel attacks. It's about time these rifles do what they are supposed to do.

I get 1-3 shot kills at any give moment in this game. It's rare that I'm left fending off a bunny-hopper who's been hit by my shot (having seen him first), and vice-versa: If I've been hit at least once, my health is dropped to less than 25%, and unless my team is working alongside and paying attention to their environment, I might as well kiss my arse goodbye...as it should be.

So yeah, to those nay-sayers on the mod, I can understand having your own opinions of why you may not like the mod, but please EXPLAIN why you don't. Don't simply write things like "yeah, it was hyped" or "it brings out the worst in V BF2"...explain what this "worst" thing was. Personally, I'd like to know.

              PEACE

Re: POE2 and the hype it caused

I'm a PRMM jockey myself. Yet, even in PoE2s' maintaining some arcadey elements, it does manage to strike that critical "balace" that EA wasn't able to get at.

I mean, the weapons feel like weapons. The vehicles feel like vehicles. The dyamics feel as if, although not entirely based off of their realistic counterparts, they share the general qualities and exist within' those parameters in game. This is a astonishing accomplishment on behalf of the [Dev] team for PoE2.

I cannot think of any mod to date that has managed to make everthing feel different, original, and unique in some fashions, and in the same notion maintain a level of balance that allows skill to be the deciding factor in most combat situations. No, not even my beloved PRMM has done this (Granted, it's only a mini-mod).

So, while it doesn't exactly fill the hype... who cares? The hype wasn't pushed out by the [Dev]s so it's not their job to meet it. No, instead, what they have done is deliver a very good addition to their "Mod-chise" (You like that? Just made it up!) and one that gives me the "ABSOLUTE" assurance that I never need to touch BF2 vanilla again.

...and has anyone taken the time to notice that the primary cons of PoE2 are things that cannot seemed to be nixed from vanilla?

                      -Flopping.
                      -Hopping.
                      -FLOPPING.
                      -FLA-OPP-ING!
-...the act of rolling onto ones belly without any regards to fatiuge, or disorientation; also known as FLOPPING

Re: POE2 and the hype it caused

                        Good post Paas.

It's how I feel. I like the arcade feel that BF2 offers, so I'm glad it stuck around with POE2. I feel that POE2 offers more of what made me enjoy BF2 so much, it's just now, both sides seem to be on equal grounds in terms of weaponry and vehicular combat.

I'll say it again: I enjoy relying on stealth to get my kills, and not have to rely on an entire clip to kill someone. Oh, and one more thing I forgot to add: if anyone here is having difficulty shooting and killing anyone, it's not like vanilla...it's almost 100% necessary to be in crouch or prone before firing your shot. I learned this in vanilla, but it seems crucial to your survival in POE2.

I actually have one question: where do I find, if in this release, the little bird helicopter? I see the sreenshots, but can't seem to find out if it's in the game...DEVs?

This is where opinion comes into play on both sides.

To me, the game doesnt FEEL different at all. It feels like BF2 on speed, with new maps and weapons, etc.

I play it often, its new and its fast, and I have a lot of fun playing it. The vehicles cant climb for crap, I dont enjoy the Helos at all. The infantry is fun, and the stattics are awesome.

I dont think the skins are that great, but I am alone pretty much with that one, its just my opinion.

The sounds sound like bf2 sounds for the most part, different volumes though. Audio was not thier big concern I dont think, so long as it worked.

I also really want a Desert Combat theme, and cant wait for DCON, and Rising Conflicts. SO I am biased, I admit it.

I think its a great expansion pack type game, cause it feels the same to me, just looks a lot different, with different settings.
