Creative X-Fi and USB headset?

Hey guys,


I have a Logitech 250 USB Headset and I just got an X-Fi Xtreme Music. For some reason when I get into BF2 when the headset is plugged in, it doesn't detect the sound card and automatically puts it on some weird medium setting. This headset, it seems, will become the primary audio device once plugged in. Is there any way to use this great headset and my X-Fi on Ultra High settings in BF2?

That would because a usb headset uses its own drivers/dsp. and totally bypasses the sound card. Unless you can find an adapter (usb to 3.5 mm plugs) or buy new headphones (or use speakers), you might as well pull the X-Fi and sell it.

USB headsets have their own built-in soundcard.

So basically, you're not using X-Fi AT ALL. You're using this rinky-dinky cheap little card built into your headphones that cannot handle BF2 audio settings beyond 'medium'.

Yes, USB headsets are useful, but they are not a good choice for primary audio for BF2.

Get a regular set of headphones and plug 'em into your X-Fi for BF2...you'll be amazed. Better yet, get a set of 5.1 headphones (the non-USB edition).

I have an X-Fi also, and i dont have a desktop mic, so i use my old USB headset for voice chat in Teamspeak. IT took a little bit if messing around with, but i got it to transmit throught my mic. (dont know if that applies...) If you want ot have the sound coming from the X-Fi and you have speakers, heres what to do. Go into the conrol panel on windows, find sound and audio devices, double click, and a window that has your sound options for windows will pop up. Its not letting me open it now, but ill edit it in, so sorry if its inaccurate now. You need to have the headset plugged in for this, so go ahead and plug it in if you havn't already. Put the primary output on the X-fi, and the primary inputs on the USB headset. This will allow you to talk using the headset, and hear with the sound card. If you use Teamspeak, and want the sound (the voicees are in my head!) in your headset, goto settings, options, and sound devices. you should see your headset and the Xfi at the bottom. The headset should already be the primary input, as you put it in the main windows control panel. If you want the headset to get the sound from TS, put the output as your headset. Voila!

Will that make it so I can hear BF2 in Xfi mode through the headset? If not I am going to go exchange it right now for a cheapo headset and a new mouse.

If you get a regular headset with mini-stereo connecters, then YES you will be able to play BF2 in X-Fi mode with Ultra-High settings.

I had the same experience with my headset and Xi-Fi soundcard.
Solved it by using the normal jacks.

Is there an option to use the standard microphone/headphone jacks with your headset?
