So i decided that I am going to buy Half Life 2 but the question is should I get EP1 aswell or is there any other games that you lot think I should get?
DoD:S is a good one if you're looking for multiplayer. The gameplay is pretty limited, it's just a straight forward control point style DM. But it's fun, and you can play it for more than 3 hours.

As much as I hate Steam, yes its a piece of crap and gamers should not be forced to use it as they are.
This is my thought, being truthfull. Okay HL2 is an amazing game hands down I can't denie it and CSS is great just doesn't have the same thing as BF2, smaller, smaller maps, quicker ending, deathmatch etc. But CSS is good for playing with friends like I used to do before my Steam broke.
So also you can get garrys mod, this **** is great fun, you can build **** and play on maps from hl2 spawn bots, make bases etc good stuff I always liked it. HL2 deathmatch isn't competitive imo, its there for fun imo. You run around throwing toilets at each other and other objects with the grav gun, a big lmao.
So you can see that HL2 is something you should buy, I think that its one of the best sp games made, and its add on of CSS and its modability is good. However, no matter what these other people say in this topic, HL2 ep1, 2, 3 etc etc waste of money man. Your getting like 3 hours out of it. It's just a rip off. I wouldn't even buy it if my Steam did work. Sure HL2 is one of my favorite sp games even though I can't play it and I have the disc and cd-key, but its not worth forking out £15-£20 for every HL2 episode that comes out, your looking at them producing ep 1 - 20 or even more. I think that its lame doing that and a quick way to get big money scheme.
So if you want it summarized, buy HL2, don't buy HL2 episodes.
AND PORTAL DONT FORGET IT!!! can't wait for potral looks fun and challanging and yeah i Havn't played ep1 but if i were in your shoes i wouldnt want to spoil it.
