9800pro alternatives

hi im sorry if this has been posted in the wrong place or asked lots of times before
im looking for a decent graphics card for bf2 i found out the radeon 9800 pro works well with medium settings which looks good (i saw screenshots) the 9800 pro is a bit old and i couldnt find it online in the uk anywere is there any newer cards which are quite the same as them

Try checking newegg.com for the parts. I do not know if they ship to the UK, but at least you can look around, read the reviews and see what will be compatible for your own needs.
Once you figure out something that might be a worthwhile upgrade you can try finding it locally or through an online UK retailer.

Why 9800 pro? If you need a AGP card just get a 7800GS(~$230USD) or 7600GS(~$140USD).

it doesnt have to be the 9800pro but is this card better than the 9800pro or about the same?

Look for an x850 or x800. I am using the x850 after I upgraded from the 9800 and Im very happy with it.

i can get the cards from somewere i just wanted to know about the graphics cards

Look for an x850 or x800. I am using the x850 after I upgraded from the 9800 and Im very happy with it.

If he's got a 9800Pro then any X* card wont work, different Architecture. Unless he wants a new board to go with his new card of course

Which architecture are you refering to?
My x850 is AGP and it was a direct switch for my 9800 pro.

My mistake. DO not go with a 9800 pro then. Look for the latest generation agp card you can find.

i thought i found the 7600gs at a very good price but it turned out to be a pcie

ATI now has an x1600 that`s AGP, havent checked the specs yet.
