We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.
While all passwords are encrypted and salted, it's recommended that you change your password here when you can.
PB should kick/ban for script kids. The fact that a few loud clan folks will object, probably in some leet-speak infested rant about us being newbs, solidifies my point.
haha....lol......ur right..
nice sig BTW.....i remember that thread......u kick as.s
PB can't even stop people from cheating and you think it's going to be able to stop macros?
In my opinion, since they can't even stop cheats they definitely don't have the time to split between cheats and macros. I'd much rather that they focus on the cheats that have plauged the game since its release than think up a new way to not do anything.
[PBSTAFF]Stuart told me that the final test for macro abusers will be the delay on 1.4.. but I personaly think ... ppl will find some way to abuse of macros again.. like jump crouch or something.
First of all, there is a difference between running and diving behind a wall for cover and moving throughout the entire map the the Volx video shows. One is a legitimate tactic to run away and regroup while the other makes the play look like a complete idiot.
I don't really care one way or another if they do away with the bunny hopping or dolphin diving, it does not bother me that much. I've always taken care of them with a hand grenade or a shot from the M203.
As for the prone spamming, it's a game FFS, what do you want them to do? Have a duel at 30 paces, turn and fire? that is part of the fun and competitive nature of the game. Keep in mind, this is NOT meant to be realistic by any means. All the whining about every single nuance within the game that causes someone a death or 2 is about as annoying as the the act of doing it in the 1st place.
The only way to remove the macro exploitation would be to remove the jumping feature all together. I don't want this game to get mutilated any more than it already has, but it seems like you would not mind if it took another round of chops from the devs. Remember a player that has no sense of fair play cannot be fixed with a patch or by dropping a punkbuster hammer on them. Your solution would be to punish everyone for what a few are doing. This is NOT the way to improvement. The only think that can be done about the asshats that abuse macro functions and the game mechanis in general is:
1 - For pubbers: Do NOT play on or support crappy servers with lazy admins. Find servers that have admins that actually do something with their access to BF2CC instead of using it to boost their already inflated egos. If no one shows up to play on a crappy server it wont last long. No one wants to pay for a server every month when it's always empty because it has a bad reputation.
2 - For server admins: Ban people that are seen on your own servers abusing this system. I mean, it's not like it's all that hard to spot out is it?
3 - It's time for individuals to take some responsibility for their own conduct. Stop asking Dice and everyone else to do what you can do on your own. Support servers that support clean, fair gaming. If you cannot do that much, you might as well not even bother playing anymore.

If PB detects joytokey or whatever the hell is being used, you bet it will stop you dead in your tracks.
You are taking me wrong mate.. the problem will be (talking about 1.4) only the macro users, is really NOT fun to play with such ppl, Im not on a "nerfing" campaing, I agains all those kids who think that using cheat/scripts is kind of cool or something. I'm a server Owner and I only ban or kick ppl for that type of things (Macros, cheats, Intentional Tks) and I want to see, in the future, a game without those activities.
If PB can catch Macros, it will be damn good to stop those kids. But remember that the best anti-cheat system is an experimented admin.
I hope 1.4 will not allow pronespammers with the delay introduced for the prone stance.

Won't happen, and even if it does it won't stop prone spamming or anything you are asking for, because it's simple to do so without a macro, just takes a little bit more brainpower.
For starters, these macros would not be helpful if the game wasn't designed so that you can prone very fast from any position. That in itself is an example of poor design - furthermore one that so clearly can be abused.
Keyboard macros is something everyone can do - one might argue that programming keys (whether it be on a gamepad, joystick or keyboard) is something everyone can do.
I think that going at the gamers themselves for sequencing moves that are designed to be in the game, is counter-intuitive. Rather, they should redesign the whole soldier-movement properly.
Going prone from standing position should take time (like it does in real life)
Running and diving into the ground, should delay you significantly if you want to get up again quick (just like in rteal life as well).
Accuracy of aim, when diving should be reduced noticeably for a while (just like in real life).
Getting up from the prone position should reduce accuracy in the standing position for a while (just like it would in real life).
The issue lie in poorly designed game-dynamics. It shouldn't be that difficult to figure out that if you design the game so that these movements can be done so rapidly in sequence, using "legitimate" keystrokes, the macro-scripters will of course be there instantly. Moreover, when you design a game where you get a significant advantage when switching position rapidly when you use legitimate keystrokes, there is something fundamentally wrong with your design.
Anyone else who has actually tried to fire weapons after running, diving, rolling or changing position rapidly will know that accuracy is severely reduced - regardless of the weapon.
Put the blame where it deserves to be. Whether some schmuck is diving, standing up, kneeling and sprinting rapidly from legitimate keystrokes or not is not the issue. The issue is that you actually CAN do it and not suffer severe penalties.
Alright, this gaming noob needs to know what the F*** macros abusers are?
because this forum discussion doesnt make sense without me knowing lol.
all I do is murder players online, i dont know how macros users have an advantage?
Oh yeah... those f*ckers using TV macros are getting more popular: I can't wait to see their faces when they realize it no longer works. Well, a man can smile and dream.
They should do whatever they can to stop this activity.
Users still wouldn't be forced to stop bunnyhopping or whatever other bs they think is fun for them, they would just have to go on a punkbusterless server. Everyone wins. Go ahead!
If by macro abuse you mean one keystroke to muliple events I am all for getting rid of it.
However Belkin Nostromo, Logitech G15 etc etc can use their software to assign single keystoke to diffrent keys what I fear is PB will just detect the software and not discriminate how it is used.
Using the software with those devices and setting it to one keystroke should not be a problem for anyone.
Joytokey is a perfect example the times I have used it only one keystroke to a joystick button.
does anyone see somthing wrong with that.

Cheers :-)
Exactly. If the time it takes to make these movements are enforced at the server end with hard delays (cannot be interrupted), then we wouldn't even be having this discussion.
Banning macro spammers is like plugging a hole in a dam with a water balloon. It just doesn't make sense.
