Not DARPA- I'm not that old. But way back when companies weren't allowed on the Internet except though connections (and sponsorship by) universities. Long before the web was the Web and had Mosaic to make it GUI. I remember when using a 300 baud modem to access newsgroups and BBS's was high speed. Not all people that like pc games are 14 years old.
