When I admin our server, I consider base rape at an uncappable to be me (or someone else) spawning in and getting nailed before I can move. If it happens again, then I take action. I'm not big on giving people a bunch of warnings when they're breaking the rules. The rules are constantly scrolling on the server; if you don't read them then you're not going to read the warning message that I just sent. So first offense, unless it's something very minor, is a kick. Now if I see assets getting blown up while this is happening though I'll do nothing because keeping me dead helps them blow the assets. Once the stuff is blown though you had better be on your way out of the base though.

If I happen to be on the team that's doing the raping I spend a lot of time on the map clicking blue dots and figuring out who needs to be warned and who needs to be watched so that the server stays fun to play on. The team stuck in the uncap has to come out at some point or they'll lose, so just wait 'til they do and then nail them.

Gulf of Oman, to tell you, IS THE WORSE MAP EVER if you hate base raping, once all bases are capped and maintained by the U.S. team, tanks and helis come in and destroy everything, about 3 tanks and 3 APCs with about 10 buggy cars making a huge amount of roadkills. Cartillery on the jets and helis, and once the U.S. steals your T-90 on the airfield, WORSE THAN IT LOOKS!!!

ppl lets not mix up and confuse base-rape with spawn-camp.....there is a difference.....

base rape, i think is when a group of players enter a base, usually a main/uncap and usually in a armor vehicle....and destroy all vehicles, assets and infantry, but not trying to take a flag, or destroy assets specifically, but to score kills and not let anyone leave

for example.....in sharqi.....hanging out beyond visible range, and to keep TVing the heli as it tries to take off, i think that can be considered base-rape....or jets bombing the carrier, not allowing anything to take off......

i think destroying assets, and stealing vehicles should be recognised as seperate from base raping, and not disallowed on any ranked server.....base rape is not taking an enemy attack heli, i dont care ow many of the enemy team you have to kill to get it.....

i think spec ops should be allowed to destroy enemy assets, and if the wish, can (and should) be accompanied by a medic, and support......anyone who whines about this can go back to playing in micky mouses clubhouse where kids are taught to play nice, keep their hands to themselves, and sing songs about non-violence


now that i think about it, i think baserape must include armored vehicle......otherwise, how could anyone call infantry 'rape'??

This is just another example of poor design that leads to unnecessary contention among the players.

This could all be avoided by having the spawn-points covered and protected from this so-called "raping".

What you are doing is NOT raping anything - it's doing what you are supposed to.

As for being killed before even getting started, that is the fault of the designers and it could so easily be avoided. Heck, in some games you are even invulnerable for 10 secs after spawning.

I dont know what you all are on about but, baseraping is when you have illegal sex with a base. You will get caught and you will be locked up for it, so dont do it!

attacking arty and trailers is a great strategy. punishing people because they defend them selves while commiting these acts is rediculous.

I played on a (shall remain nameless) server the other night... Map was Sharqi.
Long story short, Our team (USMC) was getting it's Arse kicked, we were down to one flag so I spawned as Spec Ops, jumped into a Humvee and tear arsed to the MEC base and destroyed their UAV trailer then their Sat scan and killed 2-3 guys who spawned there and came looking for me... One was an ADMIN. Then, after that, jumped in a vodnik and got the hell out of dodge...

Saw the MEC chopper spawn as I left so decided to take an indirect route through the other MEC uncap. Didn't stop and kill any one, saw the tank sitting there unwanted so jumped in it...

By this time I'm one of only a couple of our team left and no flags... Came face to face with another MEC tank (From TV station driven by another ADMIN) and just opened fire, ploughed into it, let rip again, then abandoned it. They took out my tank and the resulting explosion took out theirs... By this time I'm trying to take the alleyway flag. No enemies about... Just before I take the flag I get booted for "stealing vehicles from an uncapped base".

I didn't bother going back in and complaining... Just shrugged my shoulders and thought WTF...

The way I see it, if your team is stupid enough to leave armour (or choppers or planes) unused on your uncaps and an enemy can get close enough to nick them... tough...

And back to the OP... If you get pushed back to your un-cap then you should expect to have your arse spanked thoroughly for playing without any team co-op...

I disagree with most of you. This is a war strategy game. If you see a threat where ever it might be kill it. EA should remove servers that kick or ban for spawn camping / base raping as this is not in the EULA. This is a tactic no matter what any of you think; you are diverting forces from one location to another. I realize this is just a game but really c'mon through the course of history have you ever a read about or been in a war where you can tell the enemy "you can’t attack this location because it's not fair." ????? Oh and by the way in war there is no such thing as stealing vehicles, it's called commandeering.

Problem:
1. Enemy spawn camping in uncap using tank/ apc.
(a) Spawn AT and kill it.
(b) Spawn Spec.Ops C4 it/ C4 a car and suicide the damn thing.
(c) Spawn Engineer and land mine area.

Some one came up with the scenario previously. You are pinned at your last base. You some how manage to escape but you are alone. You really have two choices.
(a) You go as fast as you can to enemy capable base and try to take it which most of the time does not go well because the commander can spot you right away. Most of the time arty you or forces spawn before you actually finish taking it.
(b) Go as fast as you can to enemy uncapable and proceed to base rape. If you were smart enough to spawn spec ops then you can take out UAV and SCAN. This tactic not only blinds the enemy you divert forces from your last base allowing them to hopefully over take remaining forces.

As for the other comment about J-10 to the carrier good for you wish I could fly. The way I look at it if you got your self in that situation get yourself out. BE A SPORT if you where base raping or annihilating the enemy in the previous round, switch teams the next and do it again.

EA designed the Battlefield series around the whole principle of "freedom". Freedom to roam on a map and use any vehicle / any weapon, any way you want. Thats the difference between Battlefield and linear games such as Call of Duty.

Its you that wants to impose rules to suit what you don't like about BF and the way people excersise the freedom that EA built in.

Thats wrong on 2 levels:

1. The freedom to use anything any way you want should be uniform across ALL ranked servers

2. Having different rules causes unfairness in the stats system as it interferes with players ability to score points

If you want to set additional rules to suit your own dislikes then fine, but that should be on unranked servers where it doesn't interefere with other peoples rights and abilities to play the game.

Also, you talk about its sad to want to go all out win - well thats what 1st person shooting games are all about - all thats important is winning - thats the purpose of the game.

Its not my job to make the game enjoyable for you.

I'm going to join a server and go all out to try to win and if by doing that I make that particular game un-enjoyable for you, then so what?

If you can't stand being owned, raped and losing occassionally then don't play online. Thats what single players is for.

In my opinion infantry are free to go to the uncaps as they please. If the same man on foot kills you 5 times in a row, spawn somewhere else or learn to shoot.

If you've lost all bases and they have vehicles in your uncap, well they round is over anyways suckers.
