Cool little thing with sniper scope

Hi,

Today I was seeing if I could run smoothly with 2x AA and while admiring the gun I saw the sniper scope has this cool little thing.. When you're in a dark place like those sand bag huts on Wake your sniper scope shows the center of the map, and if you turn left the view turns left.. The camera was around the boat that is sunk in the lagoon.

Yes if you go on carrier, and face away from the island, you see the boat in the lagoon. Its tiny little touches like that that make this game good. Im not sure if its a live pic, or its just a set screenshot pasted there...

He's talking about how the map is seemingly reflected onto the scope, so you can see what's behind you, on the lens.

What you're seeing is NOT a live rendering of what truly is behind you. As you may have noticed, it shows the boat even when you're not in the correct position.

What it is, I guess you can consider it as a really long rectangular 2D texture. There is a center, as you turn right, the 2d texture strip of wake island simply moves the strip to the right and vice versa.

Yeah that would take too much processing, it's much easier to put a 2d texture map for it to reflect instead of a 3d real time world.

It is cool..but the scope in the Counter Strike Source sniper rifles are better in that sense, they reflect the true surroundings i believe.

basicaly AA just makes edges smoother, simple as that, but it takes a good grafix card.
