Sigh, got promoted.

You know, everyone is whining today, so I hear is my rant. I got promoted. Now most would think this is a good thing, but I for one am very unhappy about it. About an hour ago, I went from green to gold and lost my Sergeant Major badge.

It is strange, but I was proud to have that nice star in my rank. I worked hard a long time ago to make sure I earned First Sergeant instead of Master Sergeant. When you look down the list of people of people, you could get a feel for the people that could give you trouble by what their rank showed. Mind you, this was all before the patches changed everything.

I really with that DiCE had continued the two tier promotion system into warrant officers. Those that met certain criteria would continue to get display their prowess on the field. I normally would respect certain ranks, even if the person was an a**hole. I would know they had seen a lot of action, and were often a capable player.

Well I hope I don't get kicked from servers now just because I have that ugly gold bar next to my name.

Well there are criteria for the general ranks, and those that don't qualify will be lower-ranked generals or even still Colonels, so you can take some solace in that, I suppose. But that's a long way off, though.

Ya, I just wanted to get my first star and all my unlocks. That was the only thing that really mattered since day one of BF release. This was my goal before they added in all the extra officer ranks. When they added the new ranks, I was like, who gives a f***. There was nothing special about them, you did not get anything for achiving them, and people only see that, wow that person has no life because they can put a lot of time in. But when it came down to certain enlisted ranks, it showed that the time you put into the game was quality time.

That is part of my vice.

Actually, I do, and a while ago, when certain ranks were harder to gain, I would respect them more. I still see plenty of maps that the side with the highest ranks sweeps round after round.

Oh I see. I usually respect all players equally unless they're being a monkey. And I don't tend to join squads with the highest ranks but rather ones with the most people and most coordinated.

People pay attention, however I actually get more crap than respect... Some immediately start with the stat padding accusations, name calling about the amount of hours, others feel the need to complain about rank on one side, some feel the need to proclaim their greatness when they have killed me, some have looked up my stats mid round to say how much better their stats are, etc. Then again, it's not a lot different than the forums.

It's rare that someone actually says anything positive in the chat. It's interesting what a few stars will do...

Yup, it's just something you have to deal with! Just like celebrities and their fame. You learn to live that way, or you get out.

BEING A GOOD ASSET TO THE TEAM COMMANDS RESPECT. RANK MEANS NOTHING. Plenty of people are high in the ranks and they play just for points rather than help their teammates.

It's rare that someone actually says anything positive in the chat. It's interesting what a few stars will do...

It's interesting that the higher ranked players get picked on the most. Maybe it's because they got big shiny stars or big shiny bars that it draws the attention of people.

exactly. I just liked being in the middle (but distinguished). It has to try hard for 10,000 points not to rack'em up. I was dreading getting promoted into that "oh, look at me" area of officers. Even if I am a low ranking officer, I don't want the attention. Because now, someone can always say, well, you need to switch teams to balance, or always getting asked into a squad.

I still might not get commander, and if I do, someone will say, you just get it because you have rank, when honestly, I rarely play it.
