I think the mods can figure it out for themselves, they don't need help.

Anyway, what do we expect to happen with BF2 support? Are they just going to have a permanent server running with our stats? Imagine what that means. If they turn it off people will be mad. Even 10 years from now when people are still playing the game for nostalgia, they will be like 'where is my points?!'

I understand that, but don't you think that support will end sometime in the future? They certainly won't support it for all eternity! What will happen on that day?

Tribes 2 support was dropped ages ago, yet we still have to log in, and my profile is still there today from march 2001. even when EA officially drops support and stops making patches that doesn't necessarily mean they are going to clear the database and stop us from having to log in.

I think the ranking will continue to go on for atleast a decade.

BF2142 isn't going to replace BF2. it's more like what BF:V was to BF1942. BF1942 remained king back then, and BF2 will remain king next year and well into the future until atleast BF3 comes out.

ROFLMA If the stat system was shut down I would laugh so hard at the Uber rankers, who spent 1000+hrs so they could be Leet only to have it all taken away with a simple server shut down . Classic.

of course someone else would pick up the ranking and stat system so its not like the point whores couldnt keep whoring.

The orignal post here has to be a fake. In reality I would expect EA/Dice to keep the game supported for at least 18 months or so. That would make the final support date around this comming new years (Jan 1 2007).
After seeing how they do things with this game I doubt I will buy another EA product. I think BF2 was better before any patches than it is now but thats just me. I mean it was very hard to get the hang of as it was in June 2005 but well worth the effort. Now in my opinion its to easy, just to easy.
On the other side of the coin I would have to say that this Forum has been the most helpful forum Ive ever visited for anything. Thanks guys.
