how can i play a local match?

I know there is a program out there that can connect two pc's or something like that. Like i want to play a local match with ym mate but he lives on the other side of town, Does anyone know the program that would make it so we could play a local match?

LAN won't work if your friend is on the other side of town. Instead, create a multiplayer game (which is non-ranked of course), host it on the computer which has the stronger system and internet connection, and connect to it via IP address.

You can adjust the spawn time from 15 seconds to 1 if you wish, flag ratio, # of players, map rotation, etc. Generally whoever hosts the server will have a 0 or near 0 ping, which is nice too.

Just start a local game and have your friend join on your IP address.

          Easy.

I do it all the time when we want to try out new tactics, maps, vehicles, patches, etc...

I dont mean to be annoying talus (or anyone who knows how to do this) but how would he connect to my pc on a local game via IP??? and would i need any background applications for him to do so?

And how would i know my IP address?

Go to www.ipchicken.com for your IP address and give that to your friend.

You start a local game by going to Multiplayer, and Create Local. Enter a password if you'd like and set the other parameters, map rotation, etc and click Start to load the first map and get you into the game.

Have your friend load up the Multiplayer screen and select Connect to IP and then punch in the IP address you gave him above.

He'll be prompted for the password you selected earlier, otherwise...voila, you're done.

My friend and I use Hamachi it's really easy. He connects to my Hamachi server thing because I have a better system / connection and then when he goes to Local after I have created a game he sees it and joins.
