Log in to account server?

I thought there wasnt an acct server for the game since there is no point system. Why do I need to go through this step?

It's a core component of BF2
You can't sign into your name without going through the account server.

Thanks for the answer. But just because I wasnt joining the sub-forum sized circle jerk about how good your mod is, doesnt mean you can mean you can be an ashole.
