So, I played my first game of BF2 today

And my god, I never knew it was soooo buggy.

I played for about 3 hours. During that time, I crashed the desktop twice. I had "there is a problem with your connection" 8 times. I eventually got sick and tired waiting for the server list to pop up again, so I added a couple of servers to my favourites. Apparently the Refresh button means Remove. I couldn't do anything but punish for a teamkill. It said 'page up' to forgive etc, no matter what I pressed, it punished the teamkiller, something that a couple of people didnt appreciate. For whatever reason, my team mates would sometimes be the wrong colour, ie red, and I got punished when I team killed. I even checked the scores after killing one guy who punished me, and it said he was on the other team. Then, ofcourse the opposite happened, bad guys coming up as a friendly colour.

I jumped in a blackhawk in one round, got behind the mini gun. I thought 'this will chew mofo's up' PFFFFFFFT!! Point blank I fired this little baby at a guy, and didnt kill him, he hit my once with a weapon, and I was dead. That was the final straw as I layed it into a couple of peeps as we were flying, and I didnt kill one of them.

Overall, it's a fun game. I eventually managed to get two full rounds going. Lost one by 2 tickets, so it was intense and great fun, but damn, all that for a little joy?

I also have another gripe/question. I want to use the same keys for player movement as I would for driving a vehicle. I use up for forward, and the keys for directions with no problems, but I want reverse to be the down key, but when I try to use that, it says it's already in use for common controls. Im assuming this is yet another bug, but is there anyway around it?

I saw the red tag bug only twice in a year and on both occasions I was playing on a high-ping server (150+). Try to find a better server.

There are things you can mess with to make the game run better but not perfect. I downloaded AMD optimizer for my dual core and it seemed to resolve some issues I was having.

I've actually never heard about the bug of enemies turning up as blue. Maybe it was just you who was red to them?
Regarding the chopper incident ... the guy who got you just had a decent aiming skill, its not hard to take out even a Vodnik gunner firing off at you if you manage to get his head :)
Judging by the amount of problems you had, I agree with pYura, find low ping servers, try not to go over a ping of 100 though 20-50 is even more advisable.

Yea, first dont buy a dual core CPU since the game wont use it anyway, it just messes things up :hmm:

They weren't on my team. I did consider them to be TKers, but after I checked, the appeared to be the enemy

And the thing is, I was on low ping servers. The most I pinged at was 60.

Has anyone heard of the blue name-tag bug?

I have. Pretty damn handy in a dogfight because they show up on the minimap too!!

The HUD indicator wont take them as an enemy so you have to fire off the missiles on the lock on TONE.

I've experienced the blue enemy name tag as well. Twice yesterday in 24/7 Wake server.

Yes, the red-tag/blue-tag bug has been around since the release of the game - it's a well known bug that has just never been fixed.

I think he was talking about how the minigun on the blackhawk is a super-soaker water cannon. It's terrible

In some guide there's write that you have to disable one core to have best performance because the game doesn't support dual-core and, if acctivated, COULD give some problems ..

Yeah, the minigun on the blackhawk is pointless. The machine guns on the Chinese transport are pointless as well...worse than the minigun for accuracy.
