Teamplay / good servers

Hi all,

I've been playing BF2 for a little while now, halfway to sergeant level and enjoying myself a lot most of the time. What I like most about BF2 is when you have two teams that mostly operate in Squads fighting a pitched battle where every game is a close call for both sides. I've had this a couple of times and it rocks! Good teamplay is really when the game shows its potential.

Now I know I still have a lot to learn which is why I like playing in squads, do my bit help out, watch and learn. I don't run to every vehicle, I usually ride shotgun (or topgun) or gunner to a pilot if I can. And I do those jobs quite well.

I am wondering though what you guys think are good servers where the veterans are not too jaded to help out newer players and promote good teamplay? I play on a few servers that have their good moments, but also have horrible moments when baseraping and spawncamping run rampant. I play out of Europe (Netherlands).

I think the server/community you are seeking is Tactical Gamer. My sig image gives a quick impression of what we are about...Tactics. Teamwork. Maturity. For more clarity on what this community is about I would read the ->TG Primer<- and take a look at our ->BF2 ruleset<-.

Note that we are in somewhat of a transitional period at the moment in regards to battlefield 2. Since the games release we had been running a successful unranked vanilla server. However POE2 came out Saturday and pretty much our entire bf2 community has at least for the time being switched over to playing this mod instead of vanilla. We also play the internally developed Tactical Mod which you may have seen news posts about on this site.

The only downside in your case is that we use US based servers. The ping would be a bit rough but we would love to see another face to join the growing segment of our community that is based out of Europe and elsewhere. Cheers.

What mantis said is true, this is the best team oriented server/community I ever played.
The downside is not just he ping, is that if you are in Europe the server is sometimes empty (people do tend to sleep at 6 a.m.:p ).

Yea that was a major downside to our Euro core. However this has improved greatly with our POE2 server. With the ranked barrier gone we see a lot more people joining the server. All it takes is a decent amount of seeds and the server fills up pretty quickly. So grena if you haven't had the chance to visit us in a while then you may want to check in again with POE2. The weekends for sure should see heavy activity starting in your early evening hours.

Teamwork is very much present on the Spc/KORT server.

They offer a 58 person server based out of California, USA with 50+ admins frequently monitoring their server in a fair and clean environment. Members are 25+ years old, some in there late 50's. Don't let their age fool you though. They have some great skill and work as part of a team to complete the objective. Often time matches will end close as they try to keep the teams even as far as skill is concerned.

Tuesdays is devoted to their booster pack days. Pure AF+EF expansions all day long on Tuesday.

Fair mature players follow the Spc/KORT server. Check them out, or visit their community online.

Sounds good, I'll definitly check out your server Mantis, too bad it's not ranked though, especially in teamplay the points are that much sweeter and a lot more fun to earn.

I'll check out the server you suggested as well Low_IQ, thanks for that!

And Thompson, I'm part of a clan (evil smurfs) they rocked on Enemy territory, but their BF2 server was so buggy, that it's up but hardly populated, which is a shame, as they are a great clan to play with.

I'll second TacticalGamer. It's a great community and once I found it a year ago, I stopped playing on other servers - they just weren't nearly as team oriented. SMs and SLs are required to follow orders, everyone must join a squad, crack jumping and UCB camping are prohibited, and teamwork and maturity are required. It has an active admin group (which I'm one of) that polices the server for smacktards those not obeying orders, and 90-95% of the players have (and use) VOIP heavily.

And yes, Tactical Gamer is quite nice (make sure to check out their website and download the maps and mods they're running.)

There have been some negative postings concerning the HAF server in the past. Mostly concerning admin abuse and unfounded kicking/bannings.

We try to maintain an environment that promotes teamplay with a limited number of rules and such... but realistically it is not always possible. Decide for yourself.

www.FullContactWar.com is another great server, it offers teamwork, and is also voip/squad only server.
