Need sniper advice/help.

I'v been a hardcore sniper ever since I started playing BF2.

And NO MATTER WHAT, when I hit a target..I never see the little "X" to show that I hit..its rather or annoying wondering "DID I HIT OR DID I MISS?!!?" Constantly.

Even with headshots and I get the kill message, still no "X" it will just zoom out a second after the shot and operate the bolt thing..but no "X".

Is this a setting or something to see the X while in scope? Why don;t I ever see it?

Here's a tip. Hold the left-mouse button after the shot. This will hold the scope in place for a few seconds before going to the reload animation. Then you can see your red X.

Yeah keep your button down, helps you follow through on your shots. It can help a lot when you don't know how much the bullet is dropping too.

after firing a shot keep holding down the mouse button (fire button) and it leaves the scope up..as far as the x thingy hmmm I never knew that lol. Same if you play as antitank personel and fire your AT rocket..its guided so you can control its path to its target.

There is a server-side setting to display (or not display) the yellow 'x' hit indicator. Obviously if you get the hit indicator when you're not sniping then this isn't relevant.

I snipe a lot too. Sometimes it shows, sometimes it doesn't. I don't know about the server side thingy (^) but I do know that it sometimes does not come up when I get a perfectly centered shot or even if a get a one-shot-one-kill. Just aim right and if he doesn't drop, hit him again or switch to pistol and finish the job.

I hate to say this but I think its another bug. Because I have fired a shot with no hit indicator think I've missed then got a kill assist. Yet in the same round I have clearly had shots on target with the hit indicator visible.

Thanks guys, holding the fire button down a few secs after the shot works! I now see the little hit indicator

I never knew I'v been hitting targets at 350meters :)

Indeed keep the button down, but a question = why would u? it only takes more time for the next target/shot.
If u have missed, u missed, it won't change by looking any longer.

I like to know if I miss or not..

It tells me if I need to adjust the bullet drop. Which helps alot, before, I didn;t know if I miss or hit..so I would constantly be adjusting my bullet drop, now, I don;t have to keep guessing.

And if I miss the second shot I'll know that a teammate will have no problem taking them down..seeing as they would only have 2 health left.

Anyone else gotten the dust-up indicator when they hit someone in the body with a sniper rifle? Happened today on Sharqi. Less then a 10 meter shot. Made me wonder if it bounced off body armor, since it was a anti-tanker ^o.0^

Yes, it will. You can see where the previous shot landed, and adjust for the next one accordingly.

Good piont, about the dust = yes thats when u hit someone , u often see it + target isnt dead when there is lots of lag, and the person is in fact already somewhere else.
