Sorry if kind of thread has appeared before but I can't seem to find 1, anyway if you are a squad member what do you want your squad leader to do for you, if you are a commander, what do you expect a squad leader to do for you. I have been in squads where the leader just sends a command and does something totally different, also I have ones where he his a medic and only heals squad members and fogets about the rest of the team, I just want to know what you guys think and see if I can be a better squad leader, thanks

I expect one thing from my squad leader and commander, one simple thing that can win or a lose a game. Dont...be...a moron. -
Re: What do you expect of your squad leader?
Squad leader kit's best fit is probally the medic kit to help out his squad/team. VOIP communication is the key to commanding yous squad, and your squad mates always follow the leader, you can spot out stuff using voip, (if there is a tank spot it and hope that an anti tank in your squad will take it down) Squad leaders should follow orders from the commander unless it does not make sense.Comment

Re: What do you expect of your squad leader?
Almost all my time in game has been as an SL. I have found that if I am an SL I need to stay out of the main fights and provide cover and a spawn point. Keep my squad close to the action or use it for a tactical move to a base thats not to well defended in the rear. Watching the HUD, knowing whats where and how many. Using VOIP to command the squad is essential if it available. Recieving and sending orders from the COMM, if the Comm isnt a brain dead arty whore. Only use vehicles with more than 2 seats (So no tank, unless your ina small squad). This offers more spawn points for your squad.
This is just me though, Im sure theres a million different definitions of a "good" SL. You should just do what you think is right in the situation at hand. No 2 battles are exactly alike ya know, some times improvisation is the best answer. If your squad mates dont like it, well theres always their own or another one.Comment

Re: What do you expect of your squad leader?
I have the habit of intentionally putting myself in danger with the intentions of helping my team win by capturing flags, killing the enemies who're capturing our flags, and weakening the defenses of enemies that're camping/defending a flag. As a result, I get a lot of kills, but I die A LOT. (Most of my games end up with me getting 25-40 kills, and 10-20 deaths.)
What I do guarantee to my squad is that I will issue orders that I myself intend to follow, based on the flags I intend to cap next;
If I have even one person who follows my orders in my squad, I will issue an order after every flag that we capture together;
I will change orders if I feel one particular flag is too well defended, opting instead to take an easier route to a less defended flag;
If my squad and I die, and a far away base is under attack. I will tell my squad where to spawn next, while putting up a "Defend this position here" order on flags that're under attack. Most people accept it, because it usually leads to free points on enemies who don't expect a whole squad to come defend, I then request a Vehicle drop, even if there is one or two nearby vehicles, just in case someone gets left behind by accident;
I will deny stupid commander orders (Such as, we need repairs here!) for the sake of my squad's sanity;
I will make vehicle, supply and UAV requests during times I deem them to be important;
I will always remind the team that we need a commander if we do not have a commander presently. Even a bad commander is better than no commander (Although an idle commander is the worst.);
I will always spot enemies that I myself can not kill right away, including tanks, helicopters, cars, APC's, AA's, Jets, Snipers, and infantry enemies that have escaped from my initial gunfire;
I will warn them of nearby claymores; I will 'camp' out near an enemy spawn point, to act as a spawn point for my squad, "if" my squad is willing to capture flags without me there to hold their hand;
I will always choose the best routes to a flag, using whatever means necessary to get there quicker, and I will never intentionally leave a nearby squad-mate behind;
If I get teamkilled, and I see that their name is green, I instinctively forgive. Squad-mates get the benefit of the doubt as a bonus;
I will always play as a support or medic character in city maps, and as an anti-tank in vehicle maps.Comment

Re: What do you expect of your squad leader?
Exactly the same thing here ... HAVE FUN, DON`T BE AN IDIOT! ( Our clan motto actually ). You have to remember this is not real life and your not in the army. IT`S A GAME , AND YOU SHOULD HAVE FUN!!! Obviously it would be nice for everyone to listen to orders, but hey, when the game gets that intense, I personally seen a couple of squads that do it properly and the rest of the team are just scattered around ...Originally posted by EC-Paulus-I expect one thing from my squad leader and commander, one simple thing that can win or a lose a game. Dont...be...a moron.
I`ve been a squadleader alot ... and sometimes even if the commander orders are OK, I would still fell the need to go in the other direction , because by doing that I might be flanking the enemy ... etc etc etc a lot can be talked on this subject , but the most important thing is to HAVE FUN.

Re: What do you expect of your squad leader?
1. Stay on the outer edge of firefights, rather than in the middle of it, so we can spawn on him relatively safely.
2. Give the team orders - move here, attack here, defend here, etc., so everyone has the same goal.
3. Spot things like tanks, helis, etc.
4. Request needed things from the commander, especially vehicles and supplies.Comment

Re: What do you expect of your squad leader?
When it comes down to it, this game is HECTIC! I usually play as a squad leader and I go for the objective given by CMDR or if he hasnt given one I head for a flag.
If I'm using a team kit (med/supply) I'll focus on my squad first but I won't ignore other players.
Trying to do this is good but it can't always be like that. A lot of the time the action is just moving and sometime a player has to just get the hell outta there and take some forgotten flags.Comment

Re: What do you expect of your squad leader?
I try to find a good hiding spot, but move to at least 2 other nearby sweet spots periodicaly as not to get artyd or cartillery'd. that being said I also like to go support since it seems to be a very neglected kit but very necessary for squad mates like anti tank and snipers (claymores). I make sure to comunicate with the commander like I will be needing a crate soon or a vehicle soon or uav even calll for arty 15 seconds before we get to a hot flag. the key is to anticipate what you need not expect the commander to drop it right when you need it like you have a dinner reservation, odds are if you tell a commander you will need "this or that" and give him a 20 second window he will usually accomodate you. also let him know, "hey, commander I'm running with a squad of 4 in squad two can you support us taking such and such a flag". just a couple of tips from what I've found works, but there is no hope for an afk commander or complete imbecile that actually trys to arty his own team. also, just because he doesnt have a mic doesnt mean he cant hear you, try to do a voip test at the start of the round if possible, it's alot easier to do in the beginning vs. in the middle of a fire fight.Comment

Re: What do you expect of your squad leader?
i want my squad leader to be in a good place for me to spawn on, and if he's camping tell me what kind of back up he needs. That and always always always pay attention to your commander.
If your sitting on your *** defending an already capped base with no one attacking it, i'm off your squad.Comment

Re: What do you expect of your squad leader?
I think the squad leader should have VOIP and the squad members should stay with him. but the squad leader should not lead in battle so if someone dies they ccan spawn on squad leader.Comment
