are you the administrator on your computer?

Yes, though when setting up WinXP (I just recently upgraded from 2000) it came out labeled as Owner rather then Administrator.

Owner is the XP name for administrator, it's the same thing.

Haev you checked your firewalls for any blockage of BF2?
