    view distance

i often shift my video settings to play in 16 man servers or 64 man servers.

    for 16 man , i have

    geometry : high
    effects: medium
    texture: high
    terrain: high
    lighing: medium
    shadow: off
    dinamiclighing: off
    aa: off
    texture filter:high
    viewdistance: 100%

    for 64 man:

    geometry: low
    effects: low
    texture: high
    terrain: low
    lighting: medium
    shadow: off
    dinamiclighting: off
    aa: off
    texture filter: high
    viewdistance: 100%

when i put the settings on for 16 man, i realise that i sees vehicules alot more farther than i see them with my 64 man settings, even though i have viewdistance both on 100%. thres gota be 1 videosetting that i changed witch is responsible for this. witch video settings will allow me ,when i put it on high, to see the vehicules as far away as possible?

    Re: view distance

Geometry is the setting that displays how soon you see an incoming vehicle. If you want that to happen on your 64-man settings, I suggest putting geometry to high.

Yeah definitely keep geometry on high if you don't want to get nailed or surprised from outside your range of vision.

I was wondering that as well. But I always have my settings on all high so I guess I stopped caring =P. Interesting to know though.

Don't you only need geometry on MED for full View Distance of vehicles etc?

You can read about the in-game settings here: http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_5.html

"Geometry: The Geometry setting controls the Level of Detail (LOD) setting for various objects and landscape in the game. The options are Low, Medium and High and for most intents and purposes there is virtually no difference between the three levels. At higher levels certain objects will appear more detailed, such as rounder boulders and more curved landscape (i.e. more polygons visible). More importantly, at the higher levels vehicles will come into view sooner when far away, as more of their details are shown earlier. Obviously performance is better at the lowest level, but the extent of it depends on your system. For the reason that it may help you detect vehicles sooner, you may want to set this to Medium or High."
