Damn this is really annoying me. I mean I got used to it, but after not playing BF2 for a while this is really annoying me. I go Commander and my team don't even bother to cap flags, its like they aren't all sitting on the airfield (this is on Zatar) but they just mess around, like they all stall and don't move and just sit at one flag as if to wait for something to happen. So the enemy team aren't exactly pros, but they actually capped flags. So by now my team finally cap the first flag, then they wait around, the enemy takes the centre, then my team move to the second flag and the enemy come and battle breaks out, but FFS my team had a tank, apc and aa vehicle at the flag as soon as they see a couple of infantry, they revearse in panic as if they saw a Nuke about to go off.

Ok so now im saying that flags are empty since the enemy is mostly at the 2nd flag from our main. So they don't bother to cap the centre, then theres this one player he was like a SGT, he capped the enemys 2nd top flag, then moved down and capped the factory. No one helped him and he was soon killed. My team didn't even bother to spawn at those flags, they kept spawning at the flag 2nd from the main base. The enemy capped the flag, the tickets bled, the round lost.

Don't say this is a one off. I have been a Commander for over 60h. Only a handful of times have I come accross a team that actually followed my orders and INITIATED COMMON SENSE.

It is rare that you get a game like that, since there are too many point whores and stat whores who just care about getting points.

Not that racking up a lot of points is not the right thing to do. Often, the players who do are the ones going from flag to flag (or armor whoring).

happens to me all the time. strangely most of the time it is on Gulf of Oman. like today we were up by 130 tickets, but then 3/4 of my team decided to camp the uncap until were down to 19 tickets. by then it was a sure loss.

There have been dozens of threads about this. I have even started a few of them myself. I feel your pain and sadly, it won't change things. People don't get that this is a game about flags; they think it's a game about internet stats. If you're on a team that has a goal and knows this, the round is almost always guaranteed to be yours. What sucks is that most people just want to drop bombs on UNCAPS or spawn camp in choppers and duke it out at one flag for an entire round. Not play the game as it was meant to be as a chance to work together as a team. I have over 110hrs in as commander and have won dozens of rounds based solely on the fact that while my team was content on hanging out in one spot duking it out with the other team, I took the rest of the flags ALONE. Using UAV, dropping vehicles and supplies as I needed them and we won.

God forbid we get into the whole commander fighting debate. I guess you're just better off sitting back and watching your team lose horribly. Sorry about that, but the common perception is that you should not try to ensure a win. You should hide in the corner as you lose. I can’t tell you how many times I have been commander and taken more flags and killed more bad guys than anyone else on my team. It’s kinda sad really, but it is the norm that your team won’t act like one in most cases and you are forced into taking matters into your own hands AND commanding.

I too am tired of seeing teams full of lone wolves who don't or won't help you get the win, won't listen to orders, don't pay attention to spots or UAV's, won't use a vehicle if you drop one by them etc. etc.

I gave up on commanding for this reason alone. I figure if I am going to lose, then I am getting the gold. I will grab every flag I can and kill every bad guy in the way because in the end, I will be on top. and maybe someone will follow suit on the next round and the tide will change.

follow us into combat
and have a great time
lead us as a good commander and have a better time
we (clan) are ALL about team play and team win
we have GREAT pilots - and what do we do as needed?
bail out and cap flags! or anything that is needed

we HATE to lose a game
score and medals just follow as they may

Man I have had so many instances where even as an SL with 3 or 4 guys in the squad I end up capping by myself. Beg for assistance the com drops a Vod so you have an escape. Even when Im taking 2 and 3 bases I rarely get back up. Whatever, *I see so many people complain about the fact that no one gets flags and then see the same guys in game not even attempting to*. Conquest is about flags caps, the killing is a secondary objective. Its like a bunch of CS players against BF players.

*This is not a reference or flame at anyone who has or may post, just an observation in general.

I have what may be a skewed version of teamplay.

I know I can't count on anyone but myself.

I make a squad, I cap and kill. I play as if I'm the only guy doing the fighting. (Has an added bonus of getting high scores!)

Some will follow suit and play hard, some won't, typically we win.

You know, I didn't realize how little teamwork their is in vBF2 until going into a vanilla game after spending most of my day on several PoE servers.

Comparing the two experiences teamwork wise, it was easy to see the victor.

vBF2 whilst having a lot larger population lacks squads, and the squads that do exists as you have already said do not follow orders and are spread out across the map in no way working together (Rambo Squads).

PoE frankly is the complete opposite, although the population generally speaks a different language (finding it hard to find a UK based PoE server) teamwork is paramount especially in maps such as Fallen.

I'm a point whore, and I hop from flag to flag.

After capturing 36 flags, and killing 29 people in just one round on Dalian Plant I've decided that point whoring is the best way to win matches, as long as you point whore with a purpose.

My commander loved me that round. Every flag I hopped to, he'd drop a UAV, and he always dropped a vehicle when I asked for it. Why shouldn't he? I was a squad leader, earning him huge points, while I hopped flag to flag. He got silver for his efforts. =)

My bots are the best team players.

They're always resupplying me, reviving me, healing me, picking me up, spawning on me to help cap a flag, watching my back, spotting enemies, you-name-it.

If even 1/2 of the idiots who play this game had the same attitude as you, this game would be hands-down the best ever. I TOTALLY subscribe to your thought process, and just wish everybody else did.
