Automatic game launch after login

So my friend has just recently purchased BF2. Everything seems to be fine with game except when logging in. It takes him nearly 10 minutes to login because as soon as he logs in, the game automatically starts loading him into a server.

Any ideas on how to prevent this from happening?

Yup I know whats happening. He is clicking the "Play online now" icon instead of the normal "BF2" icon. When he clicks the play online now it joins a server automatically for him so thats why its taking so long. If he just clicks the "Battlefield 2" icon it will work normally

In adition to what was said above, best thing is to delete that shortcut.
