POE2 looks very impressive!
Just had a chance to play POE2 for about 20 min before work, and it looks great. Sounds, graphics, maps, everything looks very top of the line. Not sure how much vanila BF2 I will be playing anymore.

You must be smoking the same goods that HKsniper was when he did his review, lol. The sounds are sub par, not even in the same league with BF2. OPK has much better custom sounds for thier weapons.Originally posted by Deez

Just played a couple rounds of POE2 and I don't see myself going back to vanilla again. Guns kill people, imagine that! I put my x-hair on someone pull the trigger and they die! I like the vehicles a lot better too. Like the armored jeeps have an enclosed MG F2 slot. No more being snipped from them. APC's with TV guided missles in the F2 slot, great addition IMO.
So first impressions are quite favorable, and that was only with a dozen or so people on the map, can't wait to get in on some larger games later tonight.
Oh yeah, everyone squads up and sticks together! Teamwork FTW.

new contents

new grapics
new sounds
new balance

One can appreciate that newcomers to this genre can be a little overwhelmed by all the new stuff after 20 min of play in this mod. It's not surprising that it seems very different from that perspective.
However, to everyone with a bit of experience, the things that are similar to vanialla BF2 stand out a lot more that the few things that are different.
Try and look at the big picture here - gameplay is largely the same. Infatry fighting is still largely jump, dive, rolls, prone. Except now you can't see people at the same distances as before, becauseof haze and denser foliage. The air-units still rule. Tanks can't climb worth a damn and all vehicles still take inexplicable damage going over regular terrain.
The sounds, while different, are too loud and they drown out the important sounds, such as footfalls for example. Anti-vehicle rifle can't be heard at distance and is too powerful against MBTs. The two types of ammo for the tanks appears largely pointless - except to give tanks more ammo overall.
In the big picture, POE2 seems like a booster-pack for BF2 and a missed oppotunity to improve on some of the most critical flaws of vanilla BF2.
It's nice for variety but hardly a new classic.

ITS THE FIRST RELEASE! NOTHING WILL BE PERFECT IN THE FIRST RELEASE!
and to comment on the prone/dive subject, that is a BF2 engine issue. As long as the bf2 engine (which POE cannot modify) allows it to happen then players will spam it.Comment
