Ranks and Weapon Unlocks?

I am new to Battlefield 2. So far I love it, friggin awsome game.

Online Play/Multiplayer:

1) How do you move up in ranks?
2) What are some hints to move up in ranks?
3) How do you unlock weapons?
4) Medals/Ribbons/Patches what do those do?
5) Is there somewhere you can view your combat medals?

6) Is there a way to speed up the Account Server Connection time?
(I have cable internet, it seems like it takes longer than it should)

2)Get lots of points
3)when you rank up you get unlocks. If you have SF you get 2

2) practise! try playing co-op (multiplayer/local/co-op mod) and use 1 bot and put his difficult in 10 and start own him
3: u get ur first unlock in rank lance corporal.
4: they do nothing. they show how good u are. (not on everyone)
5: and u can see them in the bf2 game. when u open it up open bfhq and press on awards and there u will see all of your awards that u have awarded
6: get a better internet connection... i recommend u to get more than 256kbits.

you get points bye killing, capping flags, defend caped flag, kill assisit and much other stuff. the awards is just to show how good you are at certen stuff and everything els someone els will cover

1. POINTS....you get points by killing enemies, helping your team (ammo and health resupply) and capping and defending flags.
2. see #1.
3. By ranking up.
4. Medals/ribbons/badges basically show you're proficient with that certain kit or army or whatever it's specific to. Check out www.bf2player.com for a very accurate and detailed listing. Patches, those are the things that every hypes up about *see 1.4 .

6. Depending on your computer system. More ram = faster load speeds.
