Alot of Lag

I keep getting a lot of lag online and I can't figure out why. It used to run fine this just started happening. I've got comcast and I ran a bandwidth speed test and it's running between 3 and 5 mbps. I've got it on medium settings. I've got

AMD Athlon 3400+ 2.4ghz
1.5 gig ram
ATI Radeon X800XL 256mb


I've been having a ping of over 400 and I keep getting booted by punkbuster. If anyone knows why it's lagging so much I'd greatly appreciate the help.

what does PB say when you got kick plus you may be running spyware or you got virus or close down some program that are running like AIM, Internet, blocker, (etc,)...

No it's not that. I don't have anything running. In taskmanager I closed all processes except for the neccesary ones.

yeah do a spyware/virus/adware scan and ^^ the pb message im guessing was prob stating that because he had lag over for example 150, he gets kicked (its more of a server rule, but pb somehow is involved)

btw anyone else using another computer at the same time?

If you have another computer in your house thats on disconnect the internet or shut it off. This has been a problem for me in the past week. When my dad is using the internet downstaris I get a lot of lag. I skip around the entire map, cant get through doorways etc. If that doesnt work than go on EAGAMES and look at the FAQS :)

same here i usually had 30 ms ping a little bit ago, also i get 12 ms in counter strike. i have a 5 meg down / 386 kbps up

now i get 200 ms and its a bit unplayable.

using another pc in the house has nothing to do with lag. i had 4 plus my 360 going at once a few times with no lag. one case maybee faulty hardware like ram, gfx card, system board, etc.... mayhave a bad router, bad cat5/6 cables

my younger bro has an issue with his system [ p4 3.2 w/HT, 2gb ram & x700pro agp ] and my pc is fine.

Try connecting to servers with low pings.
It could be the servers you usually play on that have problems...
