    For Snipers Out There...

what would be considered a long range kill?

just unlocked the L96a1 and am getting headshots well in excess of 200m. i could not imagine doing that with any other rifle.

I don't see how everyone does this. Is there some tracking device that lets you see how far away the target is or something on a website like BF2S that tracks it? Because I can kill people on Warlord from the crane to the Plaza and all I can see is an opposite-color sillouette, I want to see how far that is.

As in reference to the question, I'm pretty sure 600m is super long range, I think they can only be done on Kubra Dam unless you have a no-fog hack on. I'd say around 400m is considered a good accomplishment. But great job dude! 200m is probably more than I ever could get.

200m with the M95 is quite an accomplishment but with the thinner sights of the L96A1 I would say 250-300 would be more of a good shot. But good job anyway!

200 is pretty good for me. soon after that they just disappear off my screen anyway.

As long as i can see em, I can hit them. Normally fog prevents 1000m shots but anything in view can be shot. Just gotta adjust for drop is all.

I usually use the spawn point on the 3D map (I think its called that) for distances. The information that floats above flags, destroyed commander assest, supply boxes etc.

L96A1 has more bullet drop than the M95, so actually long range shooting is easier with the M95 albeit for the crosshair which makes it seem like it's worse. Although i've only ever really got running headshots/300+ meter kills with the Type-88 (PLA Sniper) and M24 (USMC Sniper) both stock guns.

the m24 is nice and the sights on the type 88 are super thin which makes up for its lacking power

M95 is a labor of love at sillhoutte-in-your-scope range. ^>.>^ I've had to use 5 rounds to kill a sniper climbing up a ladder on Dalian before. All perfectly-aimed headshots, 3 of which took right turns at Katmandu, and the first i'm sure hit him in the foot.

But shooting a helicopter pilot out of his seat never gets old

As Jemme101 pointed out in a previous thread. If you were a squad leader, you could mark their position. "Attack Here!". There's your distance marker.

i killed three guys that were capping my teams flag and next to the flag it has a range indicator. it said something like 230 m by it.

A good judge of range is shooting from the Chinese airfield to on of the furthest flags (on Wake). That is a good sniper shot. Esp if the target is moving. That to me, defines a good sniper.
